Wife and I were driving home in seperate cars tonight, I was in the F355 and she was in the M3. We were at a light somewhere in Old Westbury, with nice stretch of road, decided to drag a bit to see how the 2 cars compare. Light turned green I took off, but the car cut the power, I have a check engine light on for about 15 mins every time I start the car, during that period the car sometimes cut power(as if you hit a rev limiter), so basicly I choked in 1st gear, and the M3 WOT passing me, I slowly shift into 2nd, and I heard the 2nd to 3rd tire chirp from M3 then she slowed down. Right then, a SUV passed me and chased down the M3 with lights flashing, damn, police again! Just can't get a break now days.

Anyway, long store short, wife BS'ed the cop that 99% of time she drives her Honda Civic, and rarely get behind the wheels in the M3, so she had no idea how fast/powerful the car is when she floored it like she floors her Civic, she scared herself. Cop cut her a break, gave her a ticket for "Disobey TCD(traffic control device)", cop said it is like no seatbelt, it's a no-point violation. Can someone confirm that it's true? If no point on license, we will just pay the $130 and call it a day.

Now imagine my car was healthy, imagine it did not lose power, in that road condition I would have redlined at least the first 3 gears to race the M3 0-100. I will be in it focking deep when the police get me(or we), would not be pretty. Lucky.

Woodear - You got a radar detector?? If not, get one. That's a good start to avoiding (helping to avoid) tickets. Other than that, keep your eyes peeled, and all senses vigilant. Also, does anyone else have a 6th sense (inner voice??) that warns you when not to be speeding? I've been lucky several times just because for no logical reason the scenario didn't feel right and I backed off. Sure enough, backing off saved my ass. Can't explain it, but am glad to have it...
    Be safe fellas!!!

Chris I see you posted this at 2:30 AM, I assume u were driving home pretty late. Biggest problem at nite besides little other traffic and ESPECIALLY your 355 is you hear it a mile away! You draw too much attention at nite and can't eye a cop with his lights off, Old westbury is pretty secluded at night too. I "thought" a traffic control device was a moving violation, I'll find later this morning.

    That is true.

My lawyer always pleas my speeding tickets down to this violation. No points. Pay it and be happy.

As for the Check Engine light... keep us posted. In the 95s with the 2.7 motronic, diagnostics can sometimes cost some $$$ as there's no real ECU to ask what the problem is.

    Guys,
In the area where he's (woodear) talking about, its usually "instant on" radar. Whatever you have, is not going to help. I was screwing around on Northern Blvd, probably within that vicinity (Old Westbury area), and my radar detector (K-40) went off and I had about 3 seconds to slow down (nailed the brakes). He clocked me at a lower speed, but still nailed me. What I've learned is hire an attorney that deals with the traffic court in that district, and he usually gets it reduced to "no signal when turning" or something much less. Its the best $200.00 you'll ever spend. Always get an attorney for speeding tickets, and really be careful in Nassau on all service rds off the LIE. Everyday there is a trap set up especially West of Glen Cove Rd on the West bound side (service Rd), Service Rd going East between Round Swamp (48) and route 110 and the LIE going East by Lakeville Rd. I see them so often I started to wave to them! Can't hurt.

Chris, I like to thank you and your wife for the generous contribution to our neighborhood slush fund. I need to stop by at the Old Westbury townhall later to thank the police officers for their hardwork.

I have detector and laser jammer, it did not matter because the cop was right behind her, neither of us realized it because it was a SUV, so it was all by visual not by equipmenet.

I will. WWOC is sending a flat bed on Monday to pick up the car. I have some "used car warranty" from them so not sure if I will be charged.
Hope it is nothing major, the car just enters like a limp mode when on cold start, once the check engine lights goes away, it drived 100% normal.

    Credit goes to SMG.
You just keep the foot floored, and pull the shift at redline, it chrips the tire :)
