Driving home from dinner this evening was accelerating when my throttle got stuck. Immediately put her in neutral which had me revving super hot. Slid my foot beneath the pedal to lift it. Engine was loud as hell and black smoke came from exhaust.
Kept running for another fifteen minutes. But quite scary. Finally turned her off. Pedal does not return when car is off once pressed.

Any thoughts? Throttle cable adjust? Did I do damage? What was blk smoke?

    Help,pls

Black smoke is caused by flooding, tons of fuel was being dumped into your engine by the stuck throttle. It's unlikely it caused any permanent damage (other than possibly fouled spark plugs), although in the future you should shut the engine down more quickly at signs of trouble. I'm sorry I can't offer any specific advice from my experience, but I'm that sure others here may be able to help more specifically. Fuel injected 2V car I'm assuming?

Lots of time the rug/carpet will push the gas pedal forward and cause it to rev high. Check and pull the rug back away from the pedal and see if that helps, if not, check the throttle linkage an see if it's binding somewhere. Also, if your cable has a broke strand, once it enters the cable housing, it will resist it from going back.

I had a problem with my throttle too and some gave advice for the carpet but tought it couldn't be that. Well it was the carpet indeed. I couldn't believe it was a so simple problem.

The mat grabbed my pedal on another car so many times I took the mat out. Would rather wear the carpet out than crash.

I did the same on my car. Like the stock look anyway.

And I say this every time there is a malfunction. Please, if you have a malfunction, shut it down and get it towed. There is a lot of financial risk in pushing these cars in a way they are not meant to be driven.
