    Hi,
    Anyone knows if the movement of a truck can use its kinetic energy to power up a fridge instead of using oil or electricity.Maybe a back up generator would be good.

    I am not an engineer, I am just asking for any of your opinions.

    Hope this idea is not too silly.

    What kind of movement are you referring to?

    The forward movement of the truck is powered by the truck engine.
    Adding any cooling load to that would simply put a larger stress on the engine, using more fuel.

    A vehicle air conditioner works that way: using the engine to drive the compressor for the compression-evaporation air chiller, which is the same process used for refrigeration.
    Driving the compressor off the wheels instead of a belt is just a different way of linking the compressor to the engine output, wiht the added complexity of the large range of RPM on the wheel axis, versus the engine crankshaft.


    By contrast, if you're referring to trying to tap the energy absorbed by the air ride suspension, I'm not sure there's any way to get anything from that except low grade heat in the suspension components, which would be hard to concentrate into a form that could drive refrigeration.

    Heat is a low "grade" energy, compared to electricity or mechanical motion. You need a heat gradient for a Carnot cycle.
    I once thought about trying to collect the reentry heat from a shuttle's nose cap and leading edges, in order to provide propulsion for a powered landing approach.
    But the hardware to accomplish that would weigh more than a simple conventional turbofan and an hour's worth of Jet-A.

    Put oval tires on the truck and I'm sure you could power a small neighborhood.
