Today we had the charity track day with the FOCNZ, it was a very well organised event and the day went without incident. The charity group invited was the Children with hearing difficulties, the children were very well behaved and all had a very memorable day. Each child was issued with 3 tickets for a ride and lined up neatly at the side of the pits, the drivers simply pulled into a pit box and the passenger was ushered into the car and fitted with the seat belt and we were off. The day started very wet and the track had areas of standing water dotted all around the track, including the corner leading onto the back straight, this caught the overconfident out and rewarded the cautious. I was one of the latter.
There was a 160kph speed limit imposed which was well fast enough considering we had children in the car. The reaction was great from the children and parents alike, we even had time for the parents and organisers to get a run or two. As it was a fun day there were no stop watches and passing was limited to the back straight. By the time the drivers briefing was completed the rain had gone and the sun came out, the weather really turned it on for the kids, it has not been great weather over here for the most part of the week but today the clouds parted and the sun shined. Lunch was put on by or local Ferrari dealership Continental Car Services, and it was fantastic. The day was very well put together and i would like to thank all those involved in the organisation and preparation for this event. It was a privilege to be able to take the children for a ride and share in their joy, a day for me, like them, that will be unforgettable. Very humbling.

My car ran sweet all day, 113 litres of fuel! And over 200kms of track time.

Enough of the talk, here are some pic's :)

Those shiny Cam covers will cost points at a concour- standard or not. Love a buck for every argument I have had with know it all, smart arse concour judges over that one!
    Love the colour, beautiful example!

I will NOT be concouring my car 360.

To me cars are designed to be driven not shown. If I want to show something I'll buy a dog. :D

Looking forward to my first track day in it. Its coming along really well at the moment, no hurdles YET. :)

while concour is not a waste of time as it helps maintain the breed I find it frustrating for those that spend all their time preparing their car for these events only to have someone make a subjective decision on cars that very few in this country are qualified to comment on and it is very hard to have them at every concour so the right decision is made.

When you look at it from a realistic point of view how do you score a car that has the anti-vibration paint on each nut which may be the wrong tpe or colour when it is revealed by the makers at the time that they would go down to the corner store to get ANY paint for the job ??!!

And if , like in the US where an open cheque restoration takes place on several Dinos, eg, then how do you score the points for those cars and who has the right paint if that is the only deciding factor ??

Your car will never make it to concour Brett, everyone will be dead by the time you get it back :p

I put my FNR form in today, you coming ?

First beer is on you :)

    Second beer is on yellafella

    Two's my limit :D

I don't think we will make it. We've made a heap of progress but still along way to go. (Next year for sure)

History and personalities aside, you for one know how much work is envolved with a project like this.

I hope to be posting some more photo's on my 308 thread in a couple of weeks.

On the beer, I'll buy you two when I come up to QLD in October soon as though that is your limit. :D

No worries brother. The 308 is better in person than in the photo's, the classic car article was a good read though. Such a sweet color for the 308. Since you are a kiwi and all, i think you should throw some progress photos of you car in here, that way we can appreciate all the hard work that has gone into making her once she is completed (translation: I can't be bothered searching for your thread)

No worries mate, you should definitely come along next year, it is truly a fantastic day for all who attend.

    +1 (on the colour)

    +1

    +1
    Cheers Pap.

Yeah, and na, i have never so much as sat in an F40, but if you have the means then it is possible to get them road legal. Boredom would never occur again! ;)

It was great t meet you Mike, that CS is quite a machine, the one on the floor at Conti's has your name on it........think number plate........ MANIAK

Tell me more about last year? No panel damage i hope?

Did you hear me :D I would have been lifting about where you were parked. PM sent :)
