As a result of this, Mick Schumacher will probably end up being the slowest on the grid. A bit sad . . .

2022 will be the test for him, that will decide the rest of his career.

Is this the strongest overall field in F1 history? 4 former world champions with 14 titles.

I think the opposite. It’s over for Junior if I’m wrong.

I'm very cautiously optimistic about Haas this season. KMag is a known quantity at Haas, the perfect yardstick to measure Mick.

I don’t see how Mick can retain his seat after this year , Kmag made him look really bad

No, Mick made himself look bad. Pretty disappointing. He kept going backwards.

If Ferrari are still paying for his seat, I guess they will decide what's next.

I agree in almost every way.

The only safety net I am holding onto is K-mag has 6 seasons or so under his belt in F1. That is still experience which is the same that saw Alonso with Ocon. It's a tight one to hold onto but that is all I got.

    A definite 6 min thriller!!
I hope this gives kmag the confidence to use his elbows on the track when required, while not letting P5 get into his head.

Mick should be ok, he went backwards on the first lap due to being hit by Ocon, who then got a penalty. On the replay you can see Ocon is all 4 wheels just over the line and off track, so clearly his fault.
I'm still picturing Mazespin sitting somewhere thinking "I should be in the car this year" while KMAG is thinking "Glad I wasn't in the car LAST year!"

Shoe should’ve had a massive advantage after being with the team the previous year (knowing the track updates, making friends within the team, etc.) and purportedly being a gifted talent (supposedly the reason he got the seat). Mags coming in cold and achieving an outrageous quali then maintaining the battle throughout the race not only highlights the unbelievable potential of the car (…Danny’s next move?…;)) but the limitations of Mick. In a predictable world, their positions should have been reversed, and even then, we would be lauding Mags for his solid return.

Might have been a bad track for him or maybe something with the car but 47 better find enough speed in the next two races to outqualify his teammate or, in the light of day, we’re looking at another Stroll.

I think Mick is in a bit of a tricky spot. He has to outrace K-Mag as the second Haas seat will, through economic necessity, go to a pay driver. Even if he does get the better of the Dane, his ascension to Ferrari is very far from assured. Our driver pairing is much liked by Binotto. Who would swap Carlos for Mick? Also, having delivered this years car, Binotto’s star is in the firmament and what he says will go.
The only way our line up will change is if we **** up this year massively and the drivers feel let down.

Well, mick was very strong today before the crash. Perhaps Bahrain was an off weekend or indeed a wake up call, or just getting to know the car a bit more.

2nd race of the season, a new and apparently competitive car and a new(and seasoned) teammate. Early days.
