Help me! I must find a right knock off for my dino 246 L serie 1969...if you know something about it tell me as soon as possible.. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Quite right... Well here's a possible solution: Get a normal spinner and change the centre. Dinoparts made up a set of Dino script centre discs for my 206 spinners (the restorers lost them and paid for this) so they should be able to supply one at a reasonable price. If not it can't cost much to get one done as you have a pattern. Good luck!
Early "L" Series had the straight spinners. There is a suspension change at around chassis 508(I think, don't have access to my files right now). Early cars had adjustable 206 suspension. Hope this helps. Freeman
You are right Freeman, but as we can see on the picture, the car of Roberto comes with the later spinners for the 246. Only the first few 246 have been still fitted with 206 spinners. Probably remaining stock had to be cleared ;o) @ Roberto: What is your VIN number? Do you have the early or late suspension?
I think its also possible to use a late rotational Fiat Dino Knock-Off and machine out the "Fiat" center and engrave the correct "Dino" script on a new center cap and braze in to the assembly. Maybe there is someone that can share their experience with this. Are the two assemblies not the same except for the center cap?
The only adjustment I recall on the 206 was the spacer washers between the wishbone pickup brackets and the chassis. Aren't all 246s like this too?
The early suspention for 206 GT and L-serie until #00528 is adjustable as the late suspention is adjustable too. The differences are weaker springs, different bushes with less rubber and the Koni shock adsorber, despite they have the same typ no.`s, they seem to be weaker and look different. Some early L-serie 246 GT still had the straight 206 GT spanners. Probably old stock Ferrari had to be cleared after 206 GT production ended. Regards Matthias
Thank you for your help! My car is totaly restored, but the only part that i haven't got is the one right spinner . When I bought my car, chassis number 00526 ,it had three spinners of the L series and one of the 206(probably the fourth spinner was damneged)Is very difficult to find the spinner with the "curl" !
Here you are. Have just a picture of the left side (drivers side). Roberto need the opposite (right) side, so the part need to bee reversed left to right (the spinners have to point in the opposte direction, shown in my drawing above [#5]). Image Unavailable, Please Login
I spoke to my friend Tom Shaughnessy who confirmed those specific spinners are not available and extremely difficult to find. He said if you research and compare different spinners from Ferrari 250's you may find a similar style. The center cap is silver soldered on. You would need to remove this, machine and engrave a new one w/Dino script. He doesn't have the time at the moment to lay out different spinners he has in stock but will take a look when he has time which may take months because they're spread out in different locations. If you have seen the Seinfeld soup episode, that's Tom. "No spinners for you!" Freeman
Roberto, If this is something you're interested in I would recommend you doing the ground research. You can go to: http://www.tomyang.net/cars/borrani_info.html . Notice what uses a "42" hub, then find an image of a Ferrari spinner that matches your Dino spinner. Once you have that we can give it to Tom Shaughnessy and see if he has one available(do the research work for him). The center cap needs to be done by a specialist such as Metalcrafters www.metalcrafters.com/ for example. They have built many of our showcars. Someone like Metalcrafters can digitize your original and duplicate it. You can ask for Ruben Gaffoglio or Mike Alexander. Both are experts on Italian coachbuilding. Freeman
Now THAT's a detailed answer! "We're going to have to carve a new one, starting from a chunk of metal...."
Hi,I have one brand new ferrari dino spinner ,oiled ,bagged and boxed but from memory it has the sraight ears
Having an "L" with the wrong spinners (00988) and having the machining facility to modify a Ferrari spinner to make the proper dino spinner, anyone want a set? Price would be orig spinner minus de-chrome and re-chrome. The engraving will cost an additional bottle of wine. Any players?
