Algar Ferrari has a nice looking 1998 550 Maranello in tdf/tan colors. Asking $82,000. 17,200 miles. No VIN in the ad. Ad says exceptional condition inside and out. Not many extra options on it but it looks clean. Anyone know anything about this car? Thanks. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Never mind--Bruce's car has blue piping... http://www.ferrarichat.com/ferrariads/showproduct.php?product=2314&cat=4
Does that look like the stock radio in it or an aftermarket unit? Also, what is that dark stain near the carpeted floor mat on the passenger's side? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The radio is the stock Sony. That knob, if it's what I think it is, controls the gain for an amp and some woofer(s) in the back, hopefully in the trunk well, where it belongs. That stain just looks like a stain. Nothing would go there. Probably from some scared sh*tless guy's boot being planted there!!!
Seen the car up close and personal. PM sent, let me know if you want to know more. Looks like a nice car, I have not driven it. I did drive the silver car, which is a great car and drives like a beast. Damn these 550s are hellaciously fun to drive. DM
In a lot of pictures I see the cars parked with gear shift either in 5th or 6th....is it better to do that than put them in 1st? Beauty of a car...looks to be better than my 2000 and I paid quite a bit more than that....I hate looking at these pix!
The lower the gear, the harder it is for the car to roll. Some say that you should never leave a car in gear when parallel parking on the street (hills excluded). Some idiot could hit your car and damage the transmission in addition to whatever body damage is incurred. I leave my car in 1st in my garage, or in a parking space because that's the gear that I'm in when I shut her off.
It may not be a bad idea to post this over in the mid-atlantic section as well. Next time I'm over at ALGAR I'll take a look and some pics.
LOL. I'd need to sell one of my other fun cars to make room in the garage for it. Yeah, it is true, I do like this one. Even more local fchatters competing to buy it?
Toggie: " I'd need to sell one of my other fun cars to make room in the garage for it. Yeah, it is true, I do like this one." Time to make the big leap my friend! You always look at my 550 with those longing eyes...color is right...you have told me that before....mileage is low...price looks good...beats one of them new fangled kalifornias! Bobert
Looks like a nice car, Toggie. A little Woolite should take care of that shoe polish on the carpeting. Barry
Great looking car in person. Fantastic color combo!! A little carpet shampoo, exterior detailing, get the wheel doctor to work cleaning up some VERY minor curb rash, add a fresh set of tires and this car is good to go. Also needs belt service, as it's been 3.5 yrs approx since last one. I did not drive it (it was snowing) but was told it has no issues. If someone gets really serious, I'm sure I could get it out for a road test. these seats, a quilted shelf and some mod wheels..... http://www.ferrarichat.com/ferrariads/showproduct.php?product=2424&limit=recent that car would be perfect....for me.
Carbon, thanks for the congrats. LOL, sorry about not posting the VIN - it is ZFFZR49A7W0109985. Car was sold as a new U.S. model in San Francisco. I haven't dug through all the paperwork in detail yet, but my initial analysis looks like I am the 4th owner (maybe 3rd). The CarFax report shows car dealers as "owners" for the months they were holding the car in inventory.
