What are your opinions about the Koenig F50 twin turbo?

In my opinion the F50 is a perfect car that needs nothing but still people modify them. If i had the car and some extra money i would maybee purchase Koenig's "high performance engine" kit they sell that would bump you up to 650hp NA but would you really want to spend $100,000 to twin turbo a F50 for a extra 200 horses? is it really worth it?

    imagine turbocharging a '62 GTO....

turbocharging an F50 is equally pointless and damning to the car.

    leave the classics alone....

IMO, turboing the F50 is great. Personally I would do it instantly if I owned the car. ( :

In my opinion I think its great. 850hp would be amazing. Koenig's claim for the 1/4 though seems a bit fast, but I would take it. Dont think many people would be expected whats under the hood of the car if they tried messing around.

Tool I agree, if I had the car and the money I would do it too.

I'm still skeptical about this but if i wanted a turbo car i would go with a F40 if i wanted to hear the sound of 12 cyclinders firing at will i would get a F50. But.... If S7 owners and skyline owners can have twin turbo's why not Ferrari's?

Why? If Ferrari thought the car would be better with turbos, they would have used them. They didn't for a reason

if i hade the money i probably would turbo it to but then again i dont know because theres nothing like the sound of that v12 seating right behind you.
as far as the numbers go im not to sure about that 1/4 time for the turbo setup its says 8.5 sec in the 1/4 i hope thats on slicks because im not to sure about street tires. someone said before that if you want a turbo ferarri you should get a f40 and i do agree with that statement. i have to add one thing and thats you get the turbo fun and the rawness that enzo himself wanted you to feel.

Nah leave the F50 alone, slap some bigger dryers on the 40 and kick that sob up to 800hp.

Oh and they are out of their minds on the 8sec 1/4, not a flippin chance. That car is light so I would expect maybe, MAYBE a 9.9x on very good radials (not DR's or slicks) I'm sure the trap mph will be huge, but with out slicks 8's are just not going to happen.

btw it takes a viper roughly 1300rwhp to hit an 8, yeah they are a bit heaver with the cage and all, around 3600lbs, but it's also 500 more hp.

I sure hope they change the ems system to something with tunable traction control and has the ability to limit boost in lower gears, otherwise that car will be uncontrolable over 1/2 throttle in ANY gear on street tires.

IMO, a naturally aspirated mod would be more appropriate, perhaps the F50 GT motor:)?

It's a road car and you can't use what it has in standard form on the road anyway. Why bother destroying it with such a pointless modification?
I am putting a full Tubi system on mine and that is the sole modification I will make.

Does anyone know if someone has actually done the twin-turbo conversion to their car?

Id keep in NA . If i had one , id try to save some weight and add better brakes. 520 HP is more than enough for me..

I'd agree with that....500-600BHP is roughly the optimum HP range...after that you either have to be a very skilled driver or just power mad....unless u want to wrap it around a tree!

From my experience in an F40 (stock) it is very difficult to get alot of /all the power down on public roads (it was a dry day - UK).....not sure about other roads/places.....so it would be difficult to experience the full potential of having a 700+BHP F50 IMO....

Norwood TT'd a red F50 which has since had the full TT system removed prior to resale. I don't know of any that currently have it, but at least one did at one point.

Yes, and that reason was pure marketing. They wanted to make the closest supercar to an F1 ever. That's why it's "only" 5something liters of capacity as well, that's the most they could get while keeping the F1 inspiration.

Not sure I'd do it, though. There's something about the music of an NA V12 ...
