    I think it falls somewhere between the 2

    I have a Koenig 512TR race car which I love

    I'm sure there are some Koenig collectors out there. The 100% original F crowd will hate it though

    but the real question is: Does it make you happy ?

    I actually kind of like it, but perhaps only for 80s sentimentality. Two things - I'm not sure how much of the rest of the car is upgraded (over 600bhp is a lot even by today's standards) and there must be more drag from the rear tyres now...

    The seller will be wanting a lot more than £34,000 (reserve not met). It looks like an excellent car and, if the original rear engine lid is included, you could cosmetically retrofit to close to original (I personally don't like the rear flares and fin). The seats are nice as well. Has low miles too and service records. I think you would be lucky to obtain for less than £65,000.

    I don't like the wheels at all, imagine all the gold chains you'd have to wear to coordinate your wardrobe with the car......but the wing and flares are excellent IMHO.

    That's due to the aftermarket Monroe Air Ride shocks ;).......wonder why he never put traction bars on it.

    GAWD I hate those wheels.

    Love the flares and wing though......not that the original car needed it, but this is really tasteful IMHO.......

    it's on ebay right now for the fifth time in a row. Last auction (ended only two days ago) It went up to us$75000 but the reserve was still not met. Previous actions went all to around 50-55K

    I dont mind the Koenig cars so much. They are what they are, which is a statement of the time they were made. They tried to be very much like AMG or Ruf and had their successes. If I had the money and desire I would certainly consider owning one and leaving it exactly as it left Koenig.

    If I had to spend more than 75K USD on a Boxer, I'd like an original one.

    That said, Willy Moenig raced tuned Boxers for a long time, and I suppose he knew how to make one go a little quicker. I remember him at Zandvoort, and the only thing there quicker than he was was a 308 Michelotto (GT/M)

    I like the Le Mans inspired attempt, but have to ask: why then not go the whole hog? He built plenty Boxers with the sniffer intakes too, and for me the 365 Cartier-sponsored car was still the best looking Boxer ever.

    At 34K Sterling it'd be a sterling buy, but don't get your hopes up.

    I ADORE the Koenig stuff. The bigger the better.

    But people have to realize that this was done on the Boxer when it was new. When it was just another 599, California, 430. Same thing Novitec does.

    Money being no object, would I modify a Boxer TODAY with Koenig aftermarket parts? Hell no, that is sacrilege.

    Would I have done it in the eighties? Hell yes!
