i was just wondering, and i would like to get the board's opinion. should Kubica race this weekend? personally, i would say no. an ankle injury is not serious, but when ur often juggling the gas with the right foot, it can be a bit of concern.

i think BMW should give Vettel his chance, and rest Kubica. it's not like he's challenging for the WDC honours or something like that. i just think he should get some rest and get fully recovered, rather than risking things this weekend.

    just my thoughts.

A doctor is the only one who knows that. We can want or not want him to race but the "should" part of the question means "is he able" and he may not even know that. Even a mild concussion can have lingering effects for several weeks.

well yea. but if the race was 2 weeks away, it's a different story. this is a back to back race. so, i just wish he'll recover well anyways.

    If not, NO. :D

(My bet is he won't race, but I err on the side od caution)

I'm not a doctor, nor have I actually seen and evaluated him in person. For this reason, i'm not going to comment. If he does race, I hope he does well and doesn't have any problems.

I say rest Kubica, and give Vettel his fair chance in a race. Maybe Vettel can qualify well and cause a McLaren DNF at turn 1? Hehehe...

I am a doctor but obviously haven't evaluated him in person. I did, however, watch in horror last Sunday and reviewed the replays several times. Kubica is extremely lucky. If he were my employee, friend or brother, I'd definitely recommend not getting back into the car yet. The forces his body was subjected to are insane, and there's no way his brain and spinal cord is not bruised.

The real test to see if a concussion is totally gone should be putting that person in a lion's cage and see how he reacts. If he tries to climb the cage walls, he's fine. If he lays on the ground and tries to sleep, he needs more time... BUT NOT IN THE CAGE! GET HIM OUT OF THERE! WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU PUTTING AN INJURED MAN IN A LION'S CAGE! I'M CALLING THE COPS!

Kubica should rest and sit this one out. It is not that he is in a critical points chase anyway.

Besides: I'd love to see what wood Vettel is made of. Just once this season. And I bet Theissen would like to see that too since he has to make a decision about his driver lineup for 08.

kubica won't let it pass and he'll race; no doubt about that. i think he'd want to race even if his leg was really broken

once in his earlier career he was hurt in a public road accident and broken his arm - he had a race (in formula renault i think) NEXT DAY where he was about to debut in the series. he wanted to race and raced - whole distance with only one hand, and actually won that race

for some reason, i got this feeling that he's gonna sit this one out. i think Vettel will drive the 2nd Beemer.

Arrgh. That's not exactly what I meant by that.

I'd like to see him race, but nothing more. Outside the car I'm much more fascinated by the grid girls. :)

    NO!
Take the rest and restoration of your body for the week. Let your team-mate Vettel, fill in for you at INDY and your Guardian Angel, watch the race with you.
You'll be back in the saddle again, soon enough.

    Ciao...Paolo

I still haven't heard an update on Kubica.

I thought Sid Watkins would make a decision today based on some brain test.

    Anybody? Buehler?

Vettel wasn't the guy BMW sent to the driver interviews.. They sent Timo Glock. So if Kubica can't go..maybe its Glock?

The BMW team are a bunch of *******s. Here Kubica takes a very hard knock while driving their car and they throw it in his face!? WTF?!

Let me spell it out for you guys:

Kubica got his bell rung, some clocks have bells, Glock rhymes with clock. Why would BMW remind Kubica of his wicked crash like this and so soon!?
Let's try and get BMW banned for the res of the season!

    WHO'S WITH ME!?

If they use Glock instead of Vettel, the challenge against Ferrari has already been dramatically lessened.
