Villeneuve is still dealing with his injuries from Hockenheim, so the team will replace Jacques for this one race with 21 year old Kubica. Kubica will be the first driver of Polish decent to run a modern F1 race.

JV is the Alan Thicke of racing. Canadians are proud of him, but they're not sure why

BMW boss Mario Theissen has been itching to give young Robert Kubica a shot at a real race... it will be very interesting to see how he does.

This is the same youngster who the Formula Renault Championship in 2005.

I'd like to see Kubica do well. JV doesn't seem to have what it takes these days.

I'm glad to hear he's getting his chance. I rather see him behind the wheel than Villeneuve. I think he'll do well.

Injuries? What injuries? I saw Villeneuve jumping out of his car like a rabbit!
If there is anything injured, must be his pride!
I agree with previous message, it doesn't seem to me that Villeneuve's heart is in F1 anymore.
I really think that the years he spent driving that dog of a BAR have taken their toll. It's incredible when you remember him coming into F1, straightaway challenging for the lead (pole position at his first GP, win at his third GP if memory serves me right) and giving a hard time to team mate Damon Hill.
Driving a bad car affects any good driver in the long term.

His Sph%$cter still hurts from getting scr#$ed over by his buddy Mr. Richards at BAR. He spent his best years there with empty promises.

as a pole i'm really glad of this decision. i've been observing kubica since he was about 17; and i have to admit he's a really talented driver, i'm sure he'll finish on 7th or 8th place
