I purchased a pair of Maui Jim's Paradise model a few weeks ago while in California. $300, very nice pair. Small and light frame. Extremely comfortable. They don't come with a small sleeve to keep them in though so I was using my Oakley sleeve at the time. Some how the left lens got some very small but multiple scratches on them. Nothing that ruined them or anything but just annoying considering I just purchased them and they were expensive. They come with a 2 year manufacturers warranty, doesn't cover accidental scratches obviously. But I figured what the hell, so I sent them in to see if they would repair them because I literally just purchased them and never dropped them or anything. I figure they rubbed against my cell phone while in my pocket, again I had a sleeve wrapped around them.

Well I just received a phone call from one of their employees, who said they normally wouldn't replace the lens since I was at fault but since I just purchased them, they would do a goodwill for me. THAT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE RIGHT THERE! They just picked themselves up another loyal customer for the future. Figured they deserved some free advertising from a happy customer, so here I am.

If you want to buy a new pair of sunglasses... Buy Maui Jim!

This company's headquarters are in my hometown of Peoria, IL. The culture at the company is awesome! They give out 2 free pairs of sunglasses to their employees every year. Everyday is casual wear day and they encourage people to wear relaxed clothing, hawaiian shirts, sandals, etc. The CEO is an amazingly neat and cool individual...it comes at no suprise that the customer service is outstanding.

And their sunglasses are amazing to boot!

That is a great story of real customer service, sad that so often the manufacturer or vendor cannot see the forest for the trees when it comes to dealing with a customer. Honestly, what do they have in a lens, $10 at most? So they give you a $10 lens and you are extremely happy and will probably buy from them again.

Or you could do what most do, refuse to do anything. That refusal of $10 means you would never buy from them again. And they eventually offer a new customer 10% off ($30!) to sell the next pair you would have purchased.

While I am far to cheap to ever buy $300 sunglasses that I would eventually step or sit on, kudos to them.

You'd think that, but unless you're really klumsy with these kinds of things, you kind of remind yourself that they are expensive before you do something stupid with them and that atleast keeps me in check.

This is very true. My old razor cell phone was cheap - came with the phone plan and what not. I used and abused that thing like crazy. Then I went out and bought an expensive PDA and I take so much better care of it. I treat it like a baby and it hasn't been dropped once or seen a scratch since I've had it.

I would have understood if they didn't do it, b/c it was my fault that this happened. I really don't recall doing anything besides keeping them in my pocket. You're right though, it is the fact that they took the next step and did something they didn't have to do. That is what stands out.

That sounds like an awesome company to work for. Especially the free sunglasses part and every day is casual day. I'd think it would be hilarious though to see a group of people walking into a building wearing hawaiin clothing though in IL.

After reading my post again, the second paragraph should start "Or they could do ..."

I will not wear any other sunglasses. I've tried just about everything out there and I like my Maui Jims the best. The problem I have is the ones I have are no longer made. I've been thinking about contacting them to see if they can put new lenses in my old frames. They are starting to change colors on the edges. I've been told this is because of saltwater getting between the layers of glass.

I sent them a pair I bought in December, got a hairline crack in one of the lenses. Got the call telling me a replacement was on it's way and it arrived the next day. Great service!

I had a couple of pairs of Maui Jim (Titaniums) but lost them both. One I left on a golf cart at a resort course. When I got to the car after the round I realized I left them. Went back to the cart barn area to check, surprise...surprise... they were nowhere to be found.

Second pair I left in a rental car. Same results.

I hesitate to get the third pair since I am such a dweebe when it comes to losing them.
