    Dino friends,
The L-series transaxle from my car is apart for a complete rebuild. Of course there are problems, namely from lack of lubrication while the car sat for an indefinite number of years. All bearings have to be replaced. Synchros are good.
Second gear is damaged where the needle bearings ride as is the sleeve that goes with it. Rust never sleeps...
I have found a company -http://www.accurategear.com/ - that will produce just about anything in that realm. One (1) gear is around $700, more(10) about $400.
I have to send mine to be duplicated, as I have no recourse.
I am interested in lowering costs, so if anyone is interested in this venue, please let me know.
    Regards, Alberto

At the risk of asking the obvious question, have you exhausted all resources for NOS and remanufactured parts before trying to have a new one made?

Just curious (particularly because I have an L-series car).

    Cheers...Keith

Keith, I did look around rather comprehensively, the only one (or two) I did not call was Tom, but as it turned out, good news!
Normally, gears do not go bad, it is the owners that mistreat or neglect. If you are not in either categories, then you are ok.
    Regards, Alberto

Alberto, is the rust significantly more than surface rust? One could bead-blast the gear with an appropriate media and have the bearing surface polished. Often surface rust looks worse than it really is.
