I got an invite from Ferrari to be at their exhibit this Thursday via FedEx today. Anyone else? If it's a mass mailing, kinda last minute notice eh?
I believe it's just to get in and see the show. Last couple of years it was a pass to get in and see the Ferrari booth on the inside of the ropes.
Last couple of years the invite was for you and a guest. You could find someone that's going without a guest or I'm guessing, but not guaranteeing, that if you show proof of ownership they'll let you in.
doesnt the show open to the public on Friday? So this could be an invite to get a sneak peak before it opens. If it was to have your car there I would think they would need it before the show opens to the media on Wednesday. Ill be there Wednesday.
The invite was sent via FedEx to my house. It says to be there on Thursday from 1:00 to 3:00 The car is on a boat and they know it so it's not for that.
The invite is a specific Ferrri Classiche thing, to sell owners of classic Ferraris on their factory-sponsored restoration program and authentification program. So if you live in LA and have regsistered your classic Ferrari on the FNA owner's site, you're presumably invited. It would appear that they manage their owner's lists pretty specifically, because I wasn't invited to the 599 launch, so it's possible those invites went only to owners of the newer cars. I wonder if the Fex-Ex delivery was on purpose (to seem appropriately upscale) or an expensive screw-up on their part! The fact that this invite is for Thursday is great because that's "Press Day", and is attended only by the press (duh) and auto industry execs, so it's much smaller crowd. (It's also fun to see some of the manufacturers' press introductions, some of which can be great displays of stupid excess.)
The LA auto show has a sneak preview charity event on thursday night (my wife and i will be there). last yearat the sneak preview night ferrari had there area roped off for a invite only thing , i saw someone i knew from ferrari of b.h and he waved us in . i dont know why they have a privite party within a privite party ? any way it wasnt all that great .
Piero Lardi (his 'Classiche' handle) was waiting in my sock drawer w/my invite. I can't go so my spot's open, but you have to take Piero. He's standing right here. 12 cylinders or 11.
I'll be working the show again today. Hopefully I'll get a chance to come over and say hi to you guys. The show itself has been kind of strange for me this year. I have been shooting pics at some of the news conferences and running the pics back to the media center for my editor to post on Autoblog.com. I haven't had a chance to just wander around and check things out. Hopefully today will be a little less hectic.
yo Frank, if yer at the Ferrari press conference today, say "howdy". I'm a tall fooker, will be wearing a white polo and carrying a video camera on a monopod. Lets talk about some So. Cal. car photog for F-Chat. my real name is alan.
Sorry I missed you, Alan. What a wacky two days for me. Too many press conferences to attend where the companies "might" make an imortant announcement. But all in all it was another fun show. I can't believe how many people I saw there who came up and asked if I was Frank4Cars. Especially when I was around the Ferrari booth. Too funny.
I'm so glad u guys got to go and have a great time. I'm so disappointed that they've moved the date tho. This is such a hectic time of year. So many personal things going on and peo r just crazed out of their minds. I'm thinking of not even going b/c I'll b so rushed w/the 15 other things I have to do each day. I think it should be in Aug/Sept or no later than the first wk in Nov. b/f the holiday madness. What do u guys think?
