What silence. Maybe you should start a polishing thread and see if that is more popular !!! Anyway I am definitley on for this. I hope they do switch the flood lights on. I've never been to Magny Cours so would appreciate some light
Don't you worry, just keep your foot down hard!!!!! Re the polishing thread, can't help...Maybe the Chat should create a Garage Queen section where the winner is the owner of the oldest car with the least mileage? Pleased that you are coming!
Peter & Philip, you are right and same thoughts here. I don`t know whats up this year. Have a look to my invitation for the Modena Track Days next week (sticky on top). Its a shame!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats without any doubt the highlight of the year if you are in love with vintage Ferraris and F1 cars. NO, NOBODY signed in with his Ferrari!!!!!!!!!!!!! The event is Thursday, Friday and the F1 Race in Hockenheim is Saturday/Sunday. I realy thought some dudes will join us and combine it with the F1 race......wrong thoughts Just a handfull peoples are coming to visit the event but doesn`t drive the track or Rallye. - Tuscany Rallye 2006....just and only 3 Ferraris this year (last year 8 or 10) - Fchat Rallye Scotland 2006.....a shame nobody from the continent (last year 16 F cars) Can you enlight me whats going on here????? Wait for the next winter......ALL the wimps who hasn`t driven their F car during the season are crying again: Winter sucks....waiting for the summer....I wish I could drive....bla, bla. Well, summer comes again but you will not see them on the road again. Are we just a few hardbangers here who realy drive their cars and the rest are just owners who polish and store their garage queens? Sorry, to say so hard and that way but you realy inspired me with your post. Wolfgang Any comments from everybody are very welcome.
Wolfgang, I could not agree more with you. I live in the US and am on the board of the Club Ferrari France and all we have are Frenchman who want to drive their cars! At our last Mas du Clos outing we were 66 cars which was great. I am all for getting other nationalities to join our outings but apart from Ian (izza) who is actually now a CFF member, Nick (nizza) and Philip, no one comes.... At Spa for the Ferrari days I was amazwd at how few cars showed up. I think we were 60 or so on the Friday and 70 or so on the sat/sun. This is nothing when you realise that we had a total of more than 9 hours of track time for clubs, there was F1, historics with two 250LMs and a P3 amongst others, 360 Challenge races great food, a saturday evening barbeque like none other and all this for a very reasonable price!!!! Everyone wants the latest and fastest car but they don't want to drive them. It is very sad. Today, you can no longer enjoy a fast car on the public roads so race tracks are the only place to go. In addition there is more to learn and more pleasure to be had in being on a track than driving in a straight line on a highway. We are lucky to be able to profit from some of the greatest tracks in the world at reasonable prices with good food and good friends..... Maybe the future is the Chat site - a virtual Ferrari? on a virtual track! Would like to meet you one day. Amicalement, Peter
Peter, I couldn't agree more. Altough I'm not an owner I'm a hard-core Ferrari fan ever since I saw one and realised what they stand for (for me). But when I read about the number of Ferraris in Belgium and the cars we see at the Ferrari Days or SpaItalia the difference the staggering. For the last couple of years I can copy/paste about half of the Belgian entries at every event. Luckely we're in the middle of Europe so we get to see all those foreign cars. I know of owners of collections of Ferraris(10 + cars) here in Belgium whose neighbours don't even know they have the cars. A real shame IMO. Hope you have a great event. Jurgen
Peter, as a mater of fact I should also be a CCF member. I sent my form and cheque in over 2 months ago !!! Wolfgang, your comments are entirely justified in my book. I would have loved to go to the Modena weekend but my cars are getting serviced/fixed this month after a fantastic may / june. I went to Mas du Clos, Stanford Hall (Autoitalia event), Le Mans, and Spa Ferrari Days. Now waiting for the relevant bills for 3 cars to come back so I am also begining to breach some dreaded "affordability limits"... Anyway, I still plan to do a Spa+Nordschleife tour, the magny cours event and maybe one other track day in the UK before I pack up for the winter Philip
I am not 'experienced' having only done MC a few times but the only in-car footage shows minimal spotlights away from the Grandstand area. Indeed I can hardy tell if they are spotlights or PA system speakers. I may have to nip down to Jo Macari's garage - perhaps he can sell me the lights from behind the challenge grills on his Le Mans 360GT. I personally can't wait for 24 September. Izza
Been thinking about this issue more - does anyone here know if Magny Cours is floodlit (beyond pit straight) or not?
Peter this is rather worying. When asked about driving without any lights round Magny Cours your advice has so far been: "Don't you worry, just keep your foot down hard!!!!!" and "Don't worry you can do it with your eyes closed!"
Phil, Any good skier will tell you to "Feel the mountain". Only difference here is you have to "Feel the track". Where is the issue?
"Folks" should be singular. It is only Phil's nerves causing an issue on this occasion. I appreciate he hasn't driven the circuit before but those red and white rumble strips should sparkle in he headlights. Furthermore, can we have the lights only for the first half? That way the drivers can get used to the circuit and then properly live out their Le Mans dreams for the latter few hours. Application form gone off today.
