Pretty sure Tourbillon is lighter than Chiron. Mate talks about that in the Top Gear video. https://www.motor1.com/news/723993/bugatti-tourbillon-hybrid-drivetrain-details/amp/
N No idea. The people I know who got allocations know which versions they’re getting. Maybe different in different markets but I doubt it.
The Bugatti engine and overall system looks like fantastic engine. I credit Mate for coming in and doing a great job with his first B car. Especially with blending 2 different organizations. No small feat of leadership. The engine work is breakthrough. At the same time, the engine has huge displacement for that level of NA power. Perhaps needed to generate that much non-NA power. IMO purely, the exterior design looks a bit too fussy. Great concept but the overall design doesn't seem to perfectly mesh together. At the same time. it's very good. I am just stating my immediate first reaction. There are some portions that are cool, like the view into the engine from the outside. The interior, I am not a fan of. I really like what he has done with reimagining the steering wheel. That is great. I love the analog nature of the dials. I like the skeletonized concept of the bigger dials. But if I was seriously putting the power down, the rear portions of the dial could be distracting. But brilliant construction to fit the name. The interior concept feels a bit too....Pagani-ish for me. I don't want the interior driving focus to be interrupted with shiny, dials and knobs. That portion of Pagani styling is distracting to high performancing driving. Great for a museum. But would be annoying for me personally in racing or high performance driving. I don't want the physical dashboard to be arrayed like a commercial jets cockpit with too many shiny switches. Way too much ..adornment. Perhaps the average Bugatti customer wants some of this concept in their vehicle. I would wager that a huge majority of us here do not. Not bad or good. Just a different focus. Thanks for reading.
I really like it, but Im not a client. I think you make great points about high performance driving. On the other hand, I like how they put the focus on permanent analog gauges, and the screen can go away. I really love that idea. I think the exterior has a sexiness that the prior cars never achieved, at least for me. Anyway, great job by Bugatti, now bring on the F250, can’t wait to discover more! I’m with you - love what they’ve done. The thing I used to like with Ferraris, particularly my 458SA, was that they were a great place to be no matter the speed. I still get a sense of this with my 812s but not with test drives of Purosangue or 296. I haven’t seen the new C12s as I skipped the event as it was black tie. I don’t agree that the Bugatti interior is similar to Pagani - I think it’s more minimalist and beautifully executed. I’d have one in a heartbeat but not being an existing Bugatti customer the chances are zero.
It’s a fair point that it is more minimalist for sure. I did not do good job trying to say that the style of luxury seemed to be in the same theme of the Pagani. It didn’t make me feel and recall feelings of racing. Which is something I want to feel in a hypercar. And that is different with Pagani and this car as well. They make me recall and feel form and luxury of drive as opposed to the excitement of racing. Hopefully that is clearer. and I am pretty sure that the 250 will bring that feeling of racing. Which is a great feeling to build on the recent LeMans wins as well as Ferrari history and focus.
Definitely agree on the heritage part. Also if ferrari is really proud of this v6 in terms of heritage, they need to win the whole WEC first instead of just winning 24hr of LeMans, as if winning LeMans every year is enough which equates to mediocracy to be brutally honest. It's similar to saying, "winning Monte Carlo, or San Marino F1 Grand Prix is enough for this engine to be great" and then losing the formula 1 constructor's trophy as a whole each and every year. If they want to market these F1/LeMans tech at least ferrari should be winning the whole championship as a constructor. It has been more than a decade since ferrari can claim to fame 100% these kind of stuff simply because they were winning.
I bet the F250 will be uglier knowing that Manzoni is leading the design department. Tourbillon looks better and more elegant than the SP3 daytona(an incoherent design on all terms) even though it still looks big
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I think many would disagree with you that the Tourbillon looks better than the SP3, or that the SP3 is incoherent Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
Bugatti tourbillon its bling bling car started from the name. Next Ferrari hypercar have racing pedigree and engineering. But for many people’s mostly important it’s apparence and driving in place du casino unfortunately.
Whilst I agree that winning the WEC is overall more important, winning at Le Mans is no small feat. It also has no bearing bearing regarding the engine configuration, since last year's WEC Champion (Toyota) also utilised a V6. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Well, it is.
