While the Valkyrie and SF90 VS both will be tough for Ferrari to better - there is also the Mercedes-AMG One to consider. Yes, I know it is not street-legal in the US. After all, this is the One that is currently setting new track records for street-legal cars, and by very big margins. Talk is cheap.

Ferrari will have its hands full, if the goal is to make a street-legal car that will beat them all on a track but it can of course be done.

Bring on a 1,700kg, 13,000 RPM V6, thumb activated gear-shifts, batteries, four electric motors, 2,000hp, electronics (to keep you occupied, and for you to have some real fun without too much risk), wings, better tyres, ultra hyper car, and all is good. HA.

the valk hasn’t really been tested in terms of lap times yet but I expect it to be slightly faster than the amg

ferrari are really going to have to throw a gigantic amount of power at their next hypercar to make it competitive!

I expect it to be vastly faster than the AMG...

PS: Thumb gear changes? I have a Daihatsu city car with buttons on the rim. Stupid system, the paddles are much better!

I actually was going to suggest gear change by 'thought of mind' as that would require even less physical effort.
Will be interesting to see the Valkyrie beat the AMG One and the next top line Ferrari beat that again. HA.

And the next Ferrari Hyper Car even faster, I take it.

Hey Real-Zeus, here is the best part:

Every time Ferrari has set a new track record, a program with all the record driving parameters, will automatically be downloaded to the new Hyper Car. The lucky owners can then select said track, push the button, and the car will take over with autonomous driving. Electronics will ensure that the owner is along for a safe ride. He/she can then rightfully claim, next time they are at the local pub, that they have circumvented said track at absolute record speed.

Furthermore, as I understand it, Ferrari is close to having developed a software that will nearly eliminate physics. Weight, wind resistance, unsprung weight, centrifugal forces, traction etc. will be replaced with electronics and basically be eliminated.

On second thought, I think I will return to Gordon Murray's approach where less is more.
    Much much much more.........

I’ve just returned from a 3.5 hr cross-country drive with our SF90. It’s the first time I’ve really used it in anger since winter and it reminded me that it is a brilliant driving tool. Get past the terrible HMI and put up with the AF pack’s too-stiff ride for many UK B-roads and the car is very engaging to drive, a real marvel. I have old (air cooled) and new n/a 911s including a 992 GT3, a 930 ‘white-knuckle’ turbo, 458 Speciale, 812, a 512M. All really engaging drives. The SF90 stands up to all of them in terms of engagement. It has its own way but I love it and really enjoy driving it. Its rocket pace means overtaking is possible where in other cars you wouldn’t even think about it. On busy days you can find a way to jump traffic and get on with the driving better than any other car I’ve driven. Driving with an empty windscreen = better!

I’m not saying it does everything better than those other cars but it has its place and does some things better than you can imagine. It’s a great car.

What's stopping Ferrari from building a smaller car as well ?!??
Like I said, the ideal Ferrari hypercar should be a track focused monster, with central driving position, a total weight (with fuel and fluids) of no more than 1100 kg, a NA V10 that makes roughly 900 HP, and huge downforce levels. And no ABS, ESP or any of that electric crap.

Indeed. They are tin boxes, but everything works and their engines rev to 7k RPM. Good fun with a maximum speed of 100 mph. ;)

The need to accommodate normal customers, not just tiny race drivers, for one.

Terrible idea for a road car.

If you go for it, make it a proper V12.

Apart from the fact that it would be illegal in the EU and the US for a new car not to have ABS and ESP, you reinforce my notion that you don't even drive. My E-Type requires of its driver to have a clean underwear in the boot every time he/she needs to make an emergency stop... Also, try to learn the difference between electrics and electronics.

It could never be road legal, Only a handful of people have the skill to drive that sorta setup. what's the point ?

    - In 1966 Ferrari made 2x 365 P Berlinetta Speciale with a center driving position (basically they were just a concept). They have no other history of making center drive road cars. Nor does it have or add any real value for a Road car.
    - V10s have only ever been used in F1 by Ferrari (They didn't want to even make them but at the time that was the best solution so they were forced to do so) Nor are they going to wear all those costs to design and produce a road legal one that will have a very limited shelf life. Its not even a variable racing option either.

AM are taking a big risk with these limited run extreme models to get / change their current status (luxury sports cars brand) To one Ferrari already has in the Market . No real person cares about the other title unless they are lacking in other areas...

What a great bunch of cars! Good for you.
The Speciale is a fantastic looking car with a NA V8 that would be ideal for me especially if it had a manual. I know - a silly thought.

If it will havea central driving position, almost anyone can fit in it and have enough room.

The McLaren F1 had it and many consider it the greatest supercar ever made.

That would be greattoo, but I'd prefer a V10 that revs to almost 15000, the sound will be amazing.

I typed fast. Anyway, only put those 2 systems in then. I'd remove after I'd buy the car.
And I do drive daily, but a supercar is not meant for that.

It is legal, otherwise how do explain the McLaren F1 ?!

So what ?! Even better then, the cars will get in the right hands.
    I'd only build 100 anyway.

The point is Ferrari will be king of the supercar world once again, by having the fastest, most extreme, most exciting supercar ever made.

I know about that concept, and it doesn't matter if they have no history in making central driving supercars, I'm sure they could build one.
And it does add huge value, cause the driving experience is way better.

I'm sure they can design a brand new V10. Or just use the one they had on the F2004, bump it up from 3 to 5 litre with 900-1000 HP.

Ferrari ain't got it anymore, very few people still consider Ferrari the king of supercars.
Ask most teenagers and they will choose a Bugatti, Koegnisegg, Hennesey, Pagani, SSC etc - before they choose a Ferrari. And they reason they do that is cause all those brands make cars that are faster. Ferrari need to step it up and be the undisputed king once more.

It's a trade off. The car would need to be longer, thus heavier again.

Visibility is limited to the point of being dangerous, ob B Roads, as you can't see incoming traffic, There is a reason that the driver is placed near the centre of the road in all other vehicles and the reason that driving a left hand drive car in the UK (and vice versa in places where they drive on the right side of the road) is a terrible experience.

    "We die like men..."

I believe that 4re4ever was referring to the absence of electronic safety systems. When the F1 came out they were not mandatory. They are now!

Teenagers are probably not the most targeted clients in the Ferrari landscape? Maybe when they grow up (thus become no more teenagers), they will have some "taste" of the cars and will become Ferrari clients.
Ferrari is a very special and trusted brand with years of heritage, not so much exotic per se like the others mentioned. This is appealing especially to people who developed a serious interest in Ferrari cars. It is because owning a Ferrari ... comes at a cost, a serious cost :D

You buy other toys for a short term joy ;), but Ferrari usually steals your heart and your bank account, LOL. So it IS a costly romance that you never want to come quickly to the end.

The thing that you will be able to drive the upcoming hypercar almost like a 'daily' is mindblowing, taking in account the performance level.
You will enjoy the life more, when you care about HOW your car drives when going fast, not just how FAST it goes. ;)

The McLaren F1 was not long.
If the car has a central driving position, the driver can have his feet in the monocoque chasis, in front of the car, just like in Formula 1 cars.

Such a car will never be driven on B roads, it's not meant for that.

    Yes we do.

Unfortunately they are, but I'd pay some good mechanics to remove them completely. It's my life to risk.

Those teenagers will one day grow up and some will be rich, if they don't see Ferrari as relevant, they won't buy one.
Ferrari needs to focus on the future as well.

It's a road car, it is supposed to be driven on any paved road. If one wanted a track car, a single-seater would be even better.

Not only your life. Think about the other road users too. It would be illegal to remove the safety equipment, even though I know by now that legality is not high on your list... BTW, apart from the ABS, all other systems on Ferraris (and most supercars for that matter) are defeatable, so you can still kill yourself, whilst being law abiding...

These cars may have a higher top speed, but not necessarily a faster lap time. All non race car drivers first ask, what mph was that or what is the max mph?

-It is legal, otherwise how do explain the McLaren F1 ?!

It was not street legal worldwide. Plus this wet dream car you are taking about has far more extreme specs.
You do realize that most supercars can beat a Mac f1 around a track now days. They are heavier with smaller engines, electrics etc yet they are faster.

-The point is Ferrari will be king of the supercar world once again, by having the fastest, most extreme, most exciting supercar ever made.

Ferrari cannot even produce enough car to meet current demand 2 plus year waiting list etc etc clearly they are doing pretty goddam well and are highly regarded.

You are talking like someone that is suffering from inaccuracies in the pants. No self-respecting grown man cares about that. No one is ever truly king there is always someone better out there. Learn to be comfortable in your own skin.

Clearly you have no idea what Ferrari is or what they are about you basically want them to make something that has no real relation to them. Just like going into an Italian restaurant and asking for Chinese

-I know about that concept, and it doesn't matter if they have no history in making central driving supercars, I'm sure they could build one. And it does add huge value, cause the driving experience is way better.

Way better that is only your opinion. Why are all McLaren’s not center drive? why do we not have center drive standard in road cars? Simple it’s not way better.

-I'm sure they can design a brand new V10. Or just use the one they had on the F2004, bump it up from 3 to 5 litre with 900-1000 HP.

You’re not listening or understand. Ferrari didn’t want the V10 in the first place ask Ferrari owners do they want a V10 or a V12. 99% with say V12. Clearly you don’t know the history the challenges or compromises Ferrari had to Make with the F1 based V12 in the F50 either.

-Ferrari ain't got it anymore, very few people still consider Ferrari the king of supercars. Ask most teenagers and they will choose a Bugatti, Koegnisegg, Hennesey, Pagani, SSC etc - before they choose a Ferrari. And they reason they do that is cause all those brands make cars that are faster. Ferrari need to step it up and be the undisputed king once more.

Those other brands down have the history, pedigree, achievements that Ferrari has. Ferrari’s Have a Heart and Soul the other brands don’t. I have no interest in listening to Generation snow flake or Generation self-entitled. Fact is Ferrari are returning to racing on many fronts that’s where being the best matters.

-Unfortunately they are, but I'd pay some good mechanics to remove them completely. It's my life to risk.

This isn’t the Fast and the furious where you can just yank that sh@t up outta there. These cars are designed and build from the ground up everything is integrated and designed to work together for maximum performance. Not bolt on ricer parts.

WRONG its not your life to lose you lose control you will most likely take someone else out in the process, then there is your friends and family that have to live with the pain and mess you leave behind. You sound like a teenage.

This wet dream car of your is useless on the road you can’t use the specs. On the Track you will be eaten alive by a real race car. All you want is a look at me my car can do this…. Where can your car do this ???? it not king of anything but unusable hyper.

They are way faster simply cause they are benefitting from 30 years of technology advancements.
Make a care like the F1 today, with no compromises, and it will be faster. My wet dream as you called it.

If I'm right, and I hope I'm not, in 20-30 years time very few people will want a Ferrari given the bad direction they are going into, meaning electrification, turbos and heavier cars.
The NA engines Ferrari were building were a million times better than the turbos.

I am very comfortable in my one skin, I just want a track monster, there's nothing wrong with that.
My dream car is a Ferrari F50 GT with acentral driving position.

I have a very good idea what Ferrari are and they are straying away from that.

Simple, cause only the HALO car of a company is supposed to be.

I'd bet you big plenty of Ferrari enthusiasths would love those godly sounding V10s in their car.

I don't like generation snowflake either, but they are the future buyers.

I can loose control with all the systems on too. Nobody is gonna drive the car to the max on the road, you go to a track for that.

So what if it's useless on the road, I'm still driving the best car out there.

No it won't, on the contrary, it will beat any race car out there. Unlike race cars, my wet dream does not have any restrictions whatsoever when it comes to engine or aero developments.

My car can do that on a track. And it doesn't have to be usable at all, I would not want to drive it daily. You can buy other regular Ferrari's or other supercars for that.
