499P "Stradale" will be one of 2 things (if or when it happens)
    1) A limited run track only special. Sorta like the Maserati MC12 Corsa was to that of the MC12 GT1
    2) The continuation of the the limited (100 unit) Production car program that was original part of the requirement for the WEC Hypercar class.

    Just my 2 cents

I maintain that V12 Speciale would properly scratch the itch.

Just catching up on all the developments, but between life, SF90VS, this car and 812 replacement… a lot to digest.

I’ll see what I can do but they’re not making it easy dressing these cars up in winter parkas.

Frankly this is very difficult to imagine what's going on under the F250 heavy camouflage...

He didn't have any rules, design language history, brand guidelines to follow so his task was a lot easier.
I personal don't like his recent cars visually at all. but some of the idea are very sound.
While Ferrari has gone TTV6 they are going Hybrid this add alot of size and weight issues which GM didn't have to deal with.

Hopefully somewhat smaller does happen though.

So why going for more constraints with hybrid and weight ?
Lightness is everything for sportscar ( and I don’t speak about a Caterham..)
Murray demonstrated you can have a sublime NA V12 with a 986kgs car.
Ferrari is a so powerful brand right now, Manzoni could do what he wants on design side.
    Literally.

You miss the point The Board aka Management have made the call years go that Ferrari was going Hybrid.
GM doesn't live in the real world Ferrari is a day in day out business that has to show those it answers to a map of the future and the ECO freaks have caused a change in direction which caused a change in Ferraris Business model. It's sad but its the reality...Investing time and money into projects that have little to no return in the mid to long term are no longer a go at Ferrari. I personal think Ferrari could still place both side but fact is I don't have a say. calls been made we have to live with it.

Sorry I don’t miss your point.
    I know this.
Just a regret, but until they failed they are right to chose this path.
I am not sure it will be the right one for the long term.
    We will see.

If they want track performance it cannot be too small as you need a certain footprint (wheelbase and track width) and also real estate for the aero furnitures. It is no coincidence that they had to enlarge the 296 GT3 over the road car and that dedicated racing cars (like the hypercar prototypes) are huge. Even the extremely compromised, passenger room wise, Valkyrie has a wheelbase of 2.77 metres, which is 5 cm longer than an 812! Also weight is not everything, it is just a performance parameter. Look at today's F1 cars. The minimum allowed weight is 798 kg, sans fuel, compared to 505 kg 30 years ago, but they can run circles around an old car.

No, I was speaking about usable road car only.
So more weight is better in the end?
    Bold statement.

No, I could never say such a thing. All I am saying is that weight is just one of the many parameters that affect performance. A lighter car is not automatically better to drive than a heavier one. One of the most disappointing cars I ever drove, considering all the hype, was the featherweight Elise...

If you take a close look at the prototype videos, you will notice that the air entering the front is obviously routed around the chassis. But i think you've seen this detail too. Maybe that's a similar aerodynamic solution to the Valkyrie (although the F250 will be a different car)...?

Do you brake as one should brake, because in this case you will feel all the inertia of a car to put it on the corner !
of course there is nothing better than a light car, and if you have any doubts, go drive with an STO (
    lightweight by current standards)

Brake tests indicate than weight is not the end of all. Try braking an F40 against an SF90. The SF90 brakes 30 metres shorter from 200 kph!!!

I am mainly talking about the inertia, this feeling of heaviness which suddenly envelops the car.
When you brake hard with the SF 90, you have the impression that the rear weighs 3 tons, and you feel all the mass in the back of the seat.
We can install all the devices in the world, but the laws of physics are immutable...

What do you think about the design of the car (F250)? @day355

The laws of physics are what they are. Still a modern car, weighing twice as much as a classic, will outbrake it no matter what! Your "feeling" is irrelevant. The instruments speak for themselves.

Real-Zeus. I mostly respect your input. However, it is silly to argue that a lighter classic car, including an F40, will be "out-braked" by a heavier modern ditto like the SF90. I trust that I don't need to explain why that is the case. And - to some of us the feel of driving a certain vehicle is all that matters - track times be damned..

That statement is floored. Comparing a heavy modern supercar to that of a 30 plus year old light weight supercar does not give a true refection of the weight factor. Tires, Brakes, Suspension etc are light years ahead in a modern supercar. The design and setup is also caters to offsetting and reduce the effects of the increased weight under conditions like braking. So yes a modern supercar will out brake a classic one but only due to modern design and technology. The Weight issues remains.

You are just making my point. The end result is all that matters and modern technology takes care of that.

The brakes of the F40 are horrible, by modern standards. I was shocked!

So by reducing the weight the modern car is even better and doesn't feel heavy
