Comfort and safety are not necessary for a hypercar.
    And you can circumvent regulations.

Depends on the engine they will use. We know the Valkyry's ICE makes 1000 HP by itself.

Necessary both for performance and emissions.

Of course comfort and especially safety are necessary. The latter is also mandatory and you can't circumvent it in most jurisdictions.

The average car in the US is now over 1,000lbs heavier than 20 years ago. 20% of that weight gain has occurred since 2017. [emoji848]

Actually lazy design, marketing trinkets are the biggest contributors to weight gain and the basic size of cars increasing

    Size increases due to:
    1) Need for bigger interiors, as people are getting physically larger. Try fitting into a 1960s sportscar...
    2) Need for more space, required by the mandated crumble zones. Which is to say that the governments look out for us, irrespective of what naysayers think.
    3) Need for more space for the various equipment and amenities that modern cars need to have. Even F1 crs are more than 5.5 metres in length now, due to all the equipment they carry and the need for aero furniture.

Makes it even more impressive that the Porsche are making their Gt3's lighter than previous gens.

First of all, who says I have to hit the family in the small hatchback ?!
Second, even assuming I did, what difference would the weight of my car make to them ? The way I see it, the lighter my car was, the less mass would be hitting them, thus it would be better.

    I don't believe that's true.

Car makers also want to save the lives of their customers. Clients that keep dying is bad for repeat business...

It is. Real world 992 GT3 is lighter than 991.2 GT3.

Don't think so. Barely any more weight, but not lighter either.

"Other weight-saving measures include a lightweight battery and rear screen, CFRP bumper and front bumper, lighter front wheels, and engine mounts now fitted to the cylinder heads. Even more impressive is the 10kg shaved off the stainless-steel exhaust given its emissions-saving addenda. The result of all this? The 992 weighs 5kg more than its predecessor. Why? Well, mainly the inclusion of more tech and the basic platform being heavier, but the outcome is a car that shares pretty much the same power-to-weight ratio as the 991.2."
