they really did a great job shaping the test cars to a point people expected the car to be fugly( of course i still hear some say the real car is ugly).

to me it is the car that i can't get sick of looking at for almost 2 years.

It's a fantastic looking thing, stunning in fact but it certainly is ugly, at least in a traditional sense.

but what is the traditional sense of ferrari? sure it deviates from the so called pininfarina style ( which is hard to pin point what exactly defines such style in a few sentences). and throughout the years i am pretty sure the people in charge of the design of pininfarina had changed and to me it is too generalized to see this design firm as a singular thing.

if we are talking about lines, flows and rhythm of the stance of the car i think laferrari has every thing that the previous 'traditional' ferraris had, a definite modern representation with tributes to the company's great history.

In I think 1970 it was Phil Hill that went back to the factory for a visit. He met with Enzo and at some point asked about the Ferrari graveyard of scrap; old cars and part. Enzo was not impressed and they sort of had a falling out over that question. I think Enzo wasn't happy when the dead didn't stay buried...

Phil Hill had a restoration shop then, he was probably just looking for parts :)

I never understand how so very few of these test prototypes are ever seen in public with photos rarely leaking.
