Check out Automobile Magazine, the March issue which is on the new stands now.

Pretty cool issue with an article comparing the LaFerrari against the Mclaren P1.

Unlike many reviews comparing cars which never end-up with a clear winner, this article gives us a final verdict-or at least the winner according to the writer.

What was the result? Did they drive the cars in Italy or the States? Factory or customer cars?

    Cheers.

Result is no surprise. LaF is much more visceral, exciting, faster. It's the clear winner. They noted that LaF drivetrain is far superior to P1...Ferrari V12 smoothness and superior linear delivery is very noticeable.

Isn't the article the same as last December Car magazine? Take a look at the pics...

If you have a million or more to spend on a super car, pick the LaFerrari!

Don't let the cultists read that. They will tear you to pieces. 'Their' engine is so much better than anything else. It's a 'whole new thing'.

Lol. Ferrari and Porsche have forgotten more about engine building than Mcl will ever know. That said, it is a good effort by Mcl. The P1 was supposed to be the next F1, but clearly it isn't a game changer.

Yes I think that the reviewers came to this same conclusion. The LaFerrari drivetrain is much smoother. The McLaren, even with the hybrid electric motor has noticeable turbo lag followed by a power spike which is hard to control and creates unwanted wheelspin.

Doubt they even drove either car. Results copied from other tests and old re-used photos.

It doesn't have "noticeable turbo lag" if you're in the proper gear. The application of power in P1 is incredibly linear if you drive it properly. If you think you can't induce "unwanted wheelspin" in the Ferrari then you have no clue how powerful these cars are. Fortunately however these cars have traction control to control unwanted wheelspin and you only have to have wheelspin when you want wheelspin.

Have you driven one? It's one hell of a game changer the first time you do. That's true of any of the three major hypercars. The introduction of electric assist to achieve whole new levels of supercar performance is the game changer for me anyway.

It is a game changer to me the whole package its second to non IMHO.

I love driving it to a point i wished I ordered two not one P1 ! found one black but the price wasn't on my favour.

So I contacted woking and decided to apply for two iconic new McLarens expecting delivery the next 15 months.

the customer support alone and the people at woking makes me feel home since my 12C no sales man approach there just real amazing gentleman's and lady's.

Btw I just drove the LaFerrari when I picked my new F12 few days ago and its really nothing less than phenomenal did I regret pulling my allocation yes to a point to be honest but i also ordered few others cars including the F12, so I'm happy with my discussion.

speaking of the F12 my cousin and we very close since childhood he loved the F12 so much to a point he called me 3 items today, we will go to the dealer tommrow if he can't get a car soon he may have mine and I will order another F12.

I get used to waiting I guess lol.

anywya back to subject Im not into comparing just the LaFerrari trap speeds that im hearing dosent sound right !

Anyway to me cars they like candies theye comes with different flavours and colors.

i love and owns Ferraris, McLarens, Bugattis,Pagain, and Porsches (expecting delivery of my 918 WP In few months)

So I have no agenda to bring any car factory down I'm happy to anyone who owns any or a fan of any.

its not worth all the arguments to me, when you buy a car you buy it for you not for the public.

And with my years of experience the P1 did it's job so well and so perfect.

I completely agree. The P1 has proven everything to me that it needs to prove to me. In the three weeks I've had it I've driven it 665 mile (1070km) and loved every bit of it!

It came with 105 mile on the odometer which is why it now says 770.

I've talked about it before but many reasons one of them Mr.Montezemolo resignation.

And honesty Mclaren took my bussines as simple as that.

I'm not into triplete idea I buy cars that I like with the best support and so far Mclaren doing great with its team at woking.

Not to hijack this thread (and I think it's relevant) but as someone not in the running to buy any of these three cars, I'm curious about whether any of you owners have run your own instrumented tests or compared them by tracking them on the same course / same day?

If not, why not? I realize the practical challenges on doing this properly, but clearly any/all of you are huge enthusiasts with resources to get the right equipment and track time...

The subjective commentary on the differences is really great, but since none of the mags are providing hard data (particularly on the LaF) it would be amazing to hear it from the customers.

Treynor is definitely the man when it comes to this. He owns a P1 and a Laferrari. He's weighed his P1 at 3411lbs and put it round Laguna Seca with a pro driver (1.33 but with some traffic and tyre pressure issues). He's also in the process of collecting performance figures for the Laferrari which includes the weighing it. I believe he's also arranged a head to head between his P1 and a 918 at Laguna Seca with Randy Pobst driving! Not sure if the Laferrari will be involved but it would be epic if it is.
