Nah. He just stops at certain points where his friend set up the camera. Not only does it make for a great photo op, but it also gives the other cars a chance!
Vik, i could be wrong (and henrus can clarify), but I would believe it to be because his gallardo exceeded the sound limitation for the day of 92 decibels.
it was a 92 decibel limit day that day. it was ok during the morning when the sun was out, but then it became overcast in the middle of the day and the sound just bounced around. they have some poor shmuck sitting in a booth between turns 5 and 6 all day long with a microphone, measuring everyone's sound levels. i got measured at 93.5db the first time, then 95db the 2nd time. if you get black flagged a third time, you have to go home. it rained in the afternoon so i just called it a day anyway. had a blast though.
that was when i had my '04 which was a 6speed. the new '06 i just picked up is an egear. i will post about my observations about the difference soon.
So is there nothing you can do to avoid being black-flagged? Bring the best car on the track and you get punished for it?
basically, you either lift between turns 5 and 6, or mod the exhaust to be quieter than stock. Laguna is really a pain as far as noise. you'd think the neighbors realized they were moving next to a race track?
