    Hi
I'm looking to rent a simple (lower cost) place on Lake George. My wife and I and our two boys. I'd like a place with a dock as we want to bring our boat. Simple cabin is fine.
I don't know anything about Lake George.
I've heard Bolton Landing is a good spot.
    Can anyone provide some advice?
    Thanks
    Ron Frohock

The main strip with the six flags, outlet mall, shopping and restaurants is about 10 miles south of Bolton Landing. There's a lot of places to stay there and in between. Most places with decent cabins are going to run you $1500+ per week. Some will charge you double that if you have 2 adults and also charge per child.

I'm not sure where you're coming from but make sure you stop in Saratoga Springs during your stay. Its about a half hour south of Lake George.

    JRP,
    I'm coming from Central MA.
I appreciate your thoughts and link. Very helpful.

Does anyone else have any experience in the Lake George area?

    Thanks

If you can get a house in the Bolton Landing area that's the way to go. That is where The Sagamore Hotel is and it's beautiful there. Just a short drive or boat ride to the busiest areas.

This is precisely the type of information that I am looking for.
Are you familiar with a place called Waters Edge Marina?

Doesn't ring a bell, but if its near the Sagamore Hotel it's in a beautiful area.

My wife and kids and I stayed at the Sagamore over 4th of July several years ago coming back from racing at Mosport in Canada and loved the beauty of the lake and the area. We had some friends with a place and a boat in Bolton Landing and just had a blast on his boat and at some of the local restaurants.

BL struck me as pretty laid back and quieter in a nice way than the hubbub of Lake George itself and it was very relaxing.

Sorry I can't help out on the rental advice but I did want to confirm that the area is beautiful just in case you had any concerns.

Was looking at the sagamore - pricey compared to house rental. $950/day at the hotel

Sagamore is a lovely place to spend a couple of days...check with local real estate people for last minute rentals...often when you are ready to take something quickly you can get a good price...enjoy....Marc
