Sad news caused by a reckless driver. Lambo went into an SUV that was at a stop light.

One person was killed and two others were injured in a violent crash on the MacArthur Causeway in Miami Beach Thursday morning.

The crash happened just before 3 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the Causeway at Fountain Street when a Lamborghini collided with an SUV.

Miami Beach Police spokesman Bobby Hernandez said witnesses reported seeing the Lamborghini driving in excess of 100 mph when it collided with the SUV, which was stopped at a light.

The Lamborghini traveled another 100 yards after the collision, Hernandez said.

"The damage on the vehicles is pretty severe," Hernandez said.

One person, the passenger in the Lamborghini, was killed at the scene. The drivers of the car and the SUV were both taken to Ryder Trauma Center where they're expected to survive, Hernandez said.

    The victims haven't been identified.

Speed is a factor in the crash and investigators are awaiting alcohol and drug tests, Hernandez said.

As of 6:30 a.m., Hernandez said the westbound lanes of the Causeway would be closed for between 4 to 5 hours as police investigate the incident.

Wow, too bad. Hope its nobody we know.

As an aside, people drive like nuts on the McArthur Causeway. I've seen some really
big smash ups at that intersection from people simply driving way over the posted
    speed limit.

Short of putting in chicanes, what should they do out there?

    Heartbreaking.

Brace for the tidal wave of anti exotic car/wealthy comments from the public and media. I'm sure the news will milk it for ratings.

McArthur is crazy for accidents. People leave the beach in their exotics & especially motorcycles, fueled with alcohol & testosterone, a recipe for disaster. Especially bad at the fork where you can go left onto I95 N or S or continue west onto 836. A few bikes have literally gone over the bypass.

Speed doesn't kill; stupidity does. What the H E double hockey sticks was he doing going 100 mph on a city street??? Too bad the driver didn't self destruct. I would have definitely nominated him for a Darwin Award. Instead, I hope he spends a long time behind bars.

I don't think I'd want to be the driver of the Lambo. Has anyone seen the pic of the SUV driver in the hospital? He looks like an MMA Kick-Ass kind of guy that is going to be really pissed off when he gets out.

I might throw in...another matte black wrapped Lambo knuckle head like the London guy.

Yea and he gets to live with the fact that he killed a friend for the rest of his life.

Maybe he'll feel remorse and hang himself.

And it's not like the Lambo driver was some stupid young kid. Article says he is 53. More than old enough to know better.

And the deceased passenger was his 42 year old brother in law. Thanksgiving is going to be fun at their house this year.

Tragic. And totally, totally, totally avoidable.

I think this car may have been at Celebration--not many flat black wrapped Aventadors.
There were a bunch of black cars brought in on trailers.

The driver of the SUV needs to thank his good star and the Suburban if he is still alive

From experience, it helps to have a lot of steel around you in a bad accident - big cars and trucks definitely give you an edge

The driver is the least of his problems.
Literally at 9:15 am yesterday morning (5 hours after the crash) his attorney was on tv talking about how bad his injuries were.

Truly sad and totally avoidable. Seems the Lambo driver has a history of not stopping at lights or stop signs......."Miami-Dade records show Toro, 53, was charged with five moving violations in the past three years, including failure to stop at a light and disobeying a stop sign. The violations were either dismissed or Toro pleaded no contest."

Sad about the passenger...very accomplished gentleman.

"Lloyd, 42, received a degree in engineering from Johns Hopkins and a medical degree at Dartmouth Medical School. He created Old Nassau Imports in 2005 with his grandfather". "By 2008, Lloyd set out on his own and started a company called Double Cross Vodka. Living in New York City, Lloyd has been featured in numerous lifestyle magazines in recent years. In 2012, Lloyd was honored by Goldman Sachs as one of the top 100 innovative entrepreneurs in the country.

Very Sad news..... even though people have the money to buy these cars, Doesnt mean they know how to drive them. These machines deserve respect or they will kill you. These cars actually look better going slow then fast. That way others can enjoy their beauty as well. Too bad, Very sorry for these families

This could have happend even in a Honda, and it has on the McArthur. Any car can go 100 MPH, couple that with possibly drinking, and there you go. At that speed your reaction time is extremely compromised.

In an accident like that you if you are in Lambo or a similar car, with the engine in the back, you end up being crushed between the obstacle in front of you and the massive engine behind your back that wants to keep on going.
In the news they said they had to take the whole car to the medical examiner lab because they could not extricate the (dead) passenger out of it.
    Scary stuff...

    Senseless....

Are these machine fast? Yes, but do we really need to prove it on city streets after cocktailing all night? I can honestly say my tops in the TR with single lug wheels, on an open freeway during perfect weather and visibility, will be 80 MPH TOPS.... that is it.

I prefer cruising, not blowing up the engine or diff and driving the beast another day, rather than it sit in a garage with a $30,000 engine/tran bill.

Probably never saw the Suburban until he slammed into it after a night of "alleged" cocktailing...
