    that is very sad.

I have a question. If you are in a murcie, and it flips over and it stays on the back, how do you get out of it if the doors open vertically?

I AM NOT that sure it is a Murcie.....

Yes it has 2002 through 2004 Murcie wheels, But I do not regonize that as a Lambo color. Also the door appears to be popped open like a normal car and the undercarriage seems to bulky for the Murcie compared to his flat normmal, I also do not see the front VT box..... Plus ANY Murcie that burns, will go to the ground FAST with the CF.......this one looks pretty in tact and the burned area looks like what a metal car would be after, not a CF car....

    What do you giys think?

Not real sure BUT I think it is something else that had Murcie wheels on it!!

I think it is a murcielago but I am definitely no expert when it comes to Lamborghini's. Could the murcie be the color orange but appear darker because the pictures are taken during a very cloudy day? Either way it was a horrible accident. It is always a tragedy whenever anyone dies in a car crash.

Looks like a Murcie to me ...

As for the doors when flipped, I think you're supposed to go through the windshield...

    Pretty rough accident, though.

This is exactly why I don't let people borrow my cars:(

Ignorant people don't respect the power and they do not belong behind the wheel of any car of this magnatude...Its like someone that rode a dirt bike as a kid getting a GSXR 1000 for their first street bike, they "think" they can handle it till they lose it and get hurt or worse.

Looks real to me, kit cars don't have a flat bottom and are shorter.

The door looks like they tried the jaws of life on it to open it, from the angle of the nose of the car it must have been flat on the ground so breaking out the windshield would not have made an exit.

Horrible way to go trapped in a burning car with no way out, great design.

it looks like orange, but you can't be sure because of it burning and getting a little darker

well cmon lets think about this... this idea had to have poped into the designers minds... but honestly... how often do people roll lambos? they are really wide and really low.
the chances of rolling one arent that great... but i guess yes when it does happen it sucks to be inside.

Any car can roll if you get it sideways or in soft dirt if you went off the road, I believe they thought of using exploding bolts on the hinges but decided against it as they didn't want the cars blowing up.

There was an article about 10 years ago in Automobile Mag about the chief test driver for Lamborghini....he rolled a Countach one time, and had to use the fire extinguisher to break the window and crawl out.....I guess that answers the one question.

Roy....I can't tell that well either, but the whole picture looks off color, and the vent could be right behind the part that got wrecked.

Or it could be a fiero kit car, which would explain the fire ;)

Well there is a dark red metalic Murci that lives out in the area where this happened and the owner is the guy with the Enzo and the McL F1 so that jives. If it is it is the one that has been converted (Very Well) to 2wd the owner didn't like that heavy feel he got from the AWD

    information feelers are out

That is horrible. A woman loses a husband and son, family loses a father and brother, and the friend who lent them the car will be racked with guilt and all of the "what if I didn't..." scenarios in his head.

It could be the McL owner you mentioned. I believe he has let people borrow his F1 (Audiguy on this forum included) so I don't see why he wouldn't let someone borrow the Murcie (if it is a Murcie).

    Well that is awful

I know the owner he will be devistated, he is one of the nicest men I have ever met. When he showed up to an event I was at in his enzo he left the keys inside while he let kids sit in it....

Thats a sad story and it shouldn't have happened, I am suprised Lambo has not had a defective design lawsuit against them yet with the door design on the CT, Diablo and Murci, the reason probably is most of them are rarely driven.

Actually, I didn't even think of that being a problem. I don't usually plan out what I'd do in situations if I got into a wreck. I guess the same could be said of cars with doors like the Enzo and McF1 where the roof is part of the door.

I've heard great things about him and how he likes to let others enjoy his cars (by etiher driving, sitting, taking for a ride, etc).

You do the same what Valentino Balboni and customer Armin Johl from Frankfurt/Germany did when he wanted to pick up his fresh Countach LP 500S in the 70ies. Balboni drove flat, a truck came in their way the LP 500 flipped and came to a halt upside down. In that position both drivers pressed the front screen out of its frame. This crash is confirmed by a picture in a Lambo-book by Crump/Rive-Box. Johl bought another Countach right after the crash.

    Ciao!

...I drove 30,000 km in two years in my Countach LP "Periscopia" (#1120058).

The problems with Lamborghinis are not the cars - the owners are the problem!

    Ciao!
    Walter
