I would take the Murcielago over the Gallardo for two reasons. The look and the noise. The Murcielago has a great noise and a when it revvs it it sounds amazing .The Gallardo doesn't make as much noise in my opinion and it looks a bit odd. Especially the back of the car. Also isn't the Murcielago faster..

Murcie looks soooo much better. It looks insanely exotic. However, the gallardo is supposed to be an easier drive. But then again, who the hell wants a lambo for the drivability??? just my .02

While the Murcielago is so much more, unfortunately after spending considerable time with it, the car is way too heavy to be great fun. The ones I drove where all the earlier brake type and it was awful. The car gives you no confidence on smaller B roads.

The Gallardo is not a massively inspiring car to drive, but it is capable and imo would leave a murcielago on all but the straightest of roads.

You can't beat the Murcielago on looks, it is one of the best out there, but performance wise, it's just too heavy.

For the US style roads and autobahn: Murcielago.
For the UK style roads and B roads: Gallardo.

There's a Best Motoring video that has a side by side comparison between the two. Very informative. Lap times and even door closing sounds. It should provide a better contrast between the two in performance. The Merci is just slightly more here, and slightly better there. Justifyable for 100K more and 4 more cyl's? It just has a presence. Check out amazon.com for the vids.

Murcielago wins by a large margin in my book. It's the continuation of the Countach/Diablo line of supercars. Styling wise, it harkens back to the simple trapizoidal shapes in the prototype/early Countaches. Check out early Gandini sketches of the Countach. They looked quite similar to a Murcielago. The original "telephone dial" style wheels of the Murcielago are very Lambo. The wheels on the newer ones, while flashy, look too corporate-Audi (think S4).

Never warmed up to the Gallardo. They should have designed it with the classic Miura as an inspiration (think of curves and sidewinder engine). Again, the wheels are corporate-Audi. I like the interior though.

My vote is for the Gallardo
-lighter (therefore probably more fun in the twisties)
    -better looking (IMO)
-sounds fantastic with a Tubi catback system!

In the Best Motoring video the two cars were neck and neck.
    Best Lap:
    Gallardo: 1:36:15
    Murci: 1:35:73

There are times when opinions are so far gone, they must be labeled wrong and tossed out. That one about the Gallardo being better looking is one of those comments :( I'm sorry I had to be the one to break the news to you, but well someone had to do it and I guess its better it comes from someone as unbias as myself.

Ive always liked both the G and the M (especially the facelifted LP640 design), but I never realised how sexy the G was until i was driving behind dad in his G.

From the height i was (driving a "normal" car), It just looked absolutley fantastic.

I now know why we get so many people taking pictures with their camera phones when we bring it out.

I guess i need to follow someone in a Murcielago now :D

The Murci needs to go on a weight-loss program. Too heavy for my taste.

You have to admit the Gallardo does have a damn sexy ass....but you dont choose a chick just for the ass, so I would say the Murcielago. To me not only does it have a sexy ass, it has a pretty face too :D

I think with the murcie is not the weight but the 4wd that dulls out some of the feeling in favor of stability. It tends to make the car hefty. Because other cars in similar weights that camoflauge the weight very well. But, honestly, the v-12 is to die for.

murci is hands down for looks. i personally like murci but when i drove G-car it is much better made than murci. IMHO G-car has much better of more race car like sound. G-car has little too much german in it but it is better than paying 10g for regular service. also, that e-gear is something to think about, what a tranny! very quick upshift and downshift rev matching is just perfect. i would of bought this car if it wasn't for stradale.
