Sigh! Lots of rumors about the Gallardo spider and the "boosted" Murcielago, but scant details. We need to get some facts and figures. I hope that Lambo starts to release some details soon.

Isn't the Gallardo spider going to be officially be introduced in the Fall of 2005? If so, it's about time those pics / reviews start to flow.

I did hear that the official unleashing of the G Spider was going to be in the Fall European Auto show... With Production release in February... However recently I heard that orders/specifics would be done in Feb with delivery in the May timeframe...

On a side note - which you will appreciate Vik... I talked to my buddy at Nelson today about possibly trading in the Gallardo for a Murci that they may be getting... Until my G-Spider comes in... Which kind of scares me - cause I like the looks of the G - but love the performance of the Murci... I am afraid if I get the Murci - I will not want to go back to the G even if it is topless... My wife is edgeing me toward waiting for the G-Spider - since she likes the convertibles...

    We shall see :)

    Rich,

    Great stuff. What can I say...other than you're nucking futs!! - :D

In all seriousness, it's interesting to read your post. I thought most individuals get the Murci because of the killer looks. On the performance front, the commentary I've mostly heard is that the Gallardo has equal grunt right into triple digit speeds, and only then does the Murci pull away. If that is truly the case, I don't think it makes sense to move up to the Murci for performance alone. After all, how often do you plan on redlining to 160 mph? It's interesting to see that you have a slightly different perspective on the looks / performance debate. Make sure you get some good seat time in the Murci to explore some of these differences. But those looks...

I'm sure the boys at Nelson will continue to treat you right - just make sure you have in writing the "in and out" prices you agree on. You certainly don't want to be caught in a precarious price situation when it's time to swap into the G Spider.

Good luck with the decision Rich. Either way you can't go wrong.

    Best.

you'd also want to be careful with the murci market, those things drop like a rock

    Good points as usual Vik...

I should have said - I like the pulling power of the 12 Cycl. over the G's 10... but I have had only brief seat time in the Murci. I do love the Gallardo, it is quick and nimble.

After thinking about it - even with a great deal on a Murci - I think I am going to wait for the G Spider... I like having a soft top a lot - since I only drive it in good weather and on weekends due to my travels... The Murci Roadster is out of the question from a price standpoint - so the G-Spider it will be :)

How's the P-car treating you - are you getting a lot of drive time?

    Take car,
    Rich

based on road test results and my own seat of the pants assesment on a back to back test drive, the murci is faster to all speeds..even though it is bigger and heavier, it also has 85 more hp and 2 more cylinders, and it is faster...the gallardo does feel lighter and more nimble, more like a 360 vs the murci which feels like a larger rocket ship...but boy when the rocket takes off, watch out!!!! i personally like the lines on the murci better, but the gallardo grows on you and it looks great on the road.....

You guys are in a different league. I'm still getting used to the neck-snapping action of the G. - :)

I think your decision to move directly into the G Spider is a wise one. Mmmm, but those looks...

The C4S is hella fun, and it's wonderful to be able to turn on the car without playing a game of russian roulette with the dashboard lights. Been putting some good miles on it and look forward to using it liberally all summer.
