This is the ''updated'' Aventador, correct? Much like the LP640 was to the Murcielago? If so. I really expected a DCT gearbox in there. Dumb decision, as I think it'll hurt sales. Really gives an edge to Ferrari F12M. Most people I've spoken to with the means for an Aventador don't have them because they didn't like the flappy paddles compared to what Ferrari offers.
I was gonna ask the same question regarding the clutch. I hope Lamborghini throw away the old single clutch design.
There isn't any room under the skin for the extra size of the DCT and the Aventador is so heavy Lambo didn't want to add a further 100 pounds or so. What it really needed is a diet. Sure is a striking machine though.
A diet for sure...if people are so inclined towards the F12m..which one is going to be faster? I haven't seen the specs... I like the looks...
Indeed, good observation. I love the stabilizer winglets in the front air-dam, gives it an aggressive & purposeful look, and in case anyone hasn't noticed, they've changed the shape of the rear wheel arch giving it a more 'speeding' or 'flying' look.
Joe another thing is the rear end and how it the mimics the Huracan's rear with it's angled and pushed up rear bumper. Making the two mashed vents under the tail lights a lot narrower. Not my favorite feature as I think on the Huracan the rear looks cut off. The rear wheel arch you mentioned is again a homage to the LP400 with an angled larger cut out in front of the rear wheel. The new air-dam does look great. Geno Image Unavailable, Please Login
Exactly. Here is a better illustration, the Countach-like air scoops look better in main body color. In this illustration, I am seeing the change in the shape of the rear arch is cause by a deflector on the leading edge of the wheel-arch, am I seeing that correctly? Either way I really like the nose. Image Unavailable, Please Login
the presentation text mentions : ..."Following Miura, Islero, Countach, and Urraco, Lamborghinis most iconic model now reaps the inheritance of the historic S models and evolves into the new Aventador S Coupé."... and why not including the Jarama ?!?!? BTW, where is the "S" badge on the bodywork... somebody forgot to fit it !!! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
At least the Urraco gets a mention... Of course the Silhouette was the only car of that period that didn't get an S badge...
Spyder version would be nice I'll take mine in light blue metallic cream leather interior Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Olivier, the Aventador S badge is in fact on the side in front of the rear wheels, where they have put the designers name in the past Image Unavailable, Please Login
I love the updated design. Looks amazing. However, I do wish Lamborghini would evolve their standard engine cover design (photo 1). I love the Aventador Roadster look (photo 2). It's hard to believe that a car with this price tag comes with the slotted black panels. Personally. I would much prefer seeing that engine, but for those that prefer a full cover, I'm sure there could be some type of aggressive cover design option. One thought inspiration that comes to mind is the Countach Downdraft cover (photo 3). Anyhow, just some thoughts. Seems the designers were very focused on the Countach when deriving inspiration. They clearly discuss this in the attached video. See mark 4:28. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZbQJsp1Hck&t=321s
I'm glad they got away from the boat hull front bumper of the LP700 and that the didn't go DCT. I'm not a fan of the internals of the exhaust tip, it would look better if the pipes were not visible. But overall, home run.
