Today I am driving down the highway and I look in the rear view mirror and spy a Lamborghini Diablo Roadster. I follow it to the gas station that it pulled into and then I walked up to the door. Introduced myself to the young man driving and handed him my card. He said that he already knew my website and is a member of FerrariChat.com. He said that he came on here and was treated unfairly due to his young age and that no one believed that he owned this Diablo. I came home and did some searching and sure enough there was a thread about this owner named Alex and his Diablo. I am not trying to start anything or even defend Alex against anyone. I know you guys have known me for a long time around here and I just want to say that this very young, kind man does own one of the most beautiful Momo Diablos I have ever seen. So, I think all of us should welcome Alex to our forum and our only criticism should be, "Why not a Ferrari?"

Just joking. I did talk to him about the TV show that Serious Overkill will be airing soon and he agreed to have us come out and do a video profile on the Diablo. He may not have pictures to show you but soon I will have video to show everyone this gorgeous car. I just want to thank Alex for letting me drool on his car and I hope to be videoing it soon!

I called a young user out on his recent purchase and now wear his photo response as my avatar.

This isn't kindergarten; the high profile nature of this board dictates that some of us separate the wheat from the chaff and it's usually not pretty.. maybe he just doesn't want to walk through that ring of fire.

I agree. He should've taken it like a man. Kinda like airport security. Nobody cares if you are a millionaire, so take off those shoes.

I was once scrutinised like that when I got my ///M3. I just asked a guy from that board to come and take pictures of my car. No hard feelings.

I found it... I remember this thread!

    "Not a ferrari but I'm 17 and I have a 99 diablo roadster and a 00 viper gts."

His story may or not be true. One thing that I always find a little odd about young Ferrari/Lamborghini owners is that they seem to not understand why people are skeptical. I always figured people with this kind of money would have the sense to understand that.

    More money than................

    Nice avatar CMY.

I just wanted to say that I stand up for this particular owner and I think we should welcome him to our forum. Thanks for the response and I hope that you will get to see this beautiful Diablo one day.

He's become quite the celebrity over at the Lambo forum lately. He is better suited over there anyway.

    17---owns a lambo and a viper.....owns? or givin.
i know some kids that go to a prep school near by ...2 were a good friends till they moved....one had a BMW, bently, bug, audi, and a 4d truck (16-17)
his dad owned over 200 McD's and they had lambos and other exotics too

the other had a hummer...s2000 (which was sold 2 weeks after cause he screwd the trans...they got another)...and a "beater truck"....then almost died in his s2000 after falling asleep at the wheel. (17-18)

i didnt know these 2 kids but my buddy was friends with them....

one had a new fcar when he turned 16 (daily driver)=brat

and the other was like 19-20...new 360....died in or near me in boca. (hit a pole)

all these car where givin, for theres kids at a young age....
even if i had 1,000,000,000 i would not give my 16-25 or 30yo a car like that.

so if he bought it him self ...nice im sure he is not stupid with it, like me i have a nice car but it was givin to me and i baby it with all my heart.

Just some dumb & entertaining thoughts.....

Sometimes my home is used for movies, commercials or other things. It took me 3 years to build and is quite custom. Often people are surprised when they find out that I'm the owner. It's quite funny, security wants to throw me off my own property till a production assistant runs over and clears me!

Point is, it's actually very flattering that people are surprised that I can own such a home. I worked very hard to make it happen and it's probably similar to when a 30 year-old woman gets carded when buying alcohol.

So this kid "owns" 2 very nice cars, it's possible; some rare instances have 17 year-olds able to generate a quarter of a million dollars to blow on such vehicles. Then again, maybe Daddy's hand had more to do with it?

I think his running away has more to do with HIM then with what we said to him. Few people are proud of what is unearned and handed to them on a silver plater. Those who worked hard for what they have....they don't have such issues.

Feed him to the lions, if they'll have him :)

Cut the kid some slack...he's fricken 17 years old! The kid is barely out of puberty, comes here, takes a beating and you expect him to "take it like a man"? I don't blame him for not hanging around. The main reason you guys blast young people who have cars you can only dream about sitting in is simple jealousy. Everytime I see one of these types of threads, it's like a witch hunt... guilty until proven otherwise. Hell, if I was 17 and drove a Diablo around, I wouldn't or shouldn't feel the need to prove ownership to anyone especially the skeptics on this board.

Being a young exotic car owner is extremely annoying at times but can be fun at others. What I've found best is to ignore the people who make smartass comments towards you and only talk to the ones who are enthusiasts or have something nice to say.

TuscaniShark007, I must disagree with you... you say "even if i had 1,000,000,000 i would not give my 16-25 or 30yo a car like that".
It's your way of thinking and I respect that, but you shouldn't generalize. I was 22 when my father bought me a 348tb, and I've never given him one single reason to regret doing so. The only damage i ever did to it was kerbing a rim on the sidewalk while parking. I didn't own the Ferrari for a long time, but during that short period i was very careful with it because a) - i loved the car and didn't want to damage it and b)- any car can seriously injure you if you drive ir carelessly. My point is that i believe there are young people who are capable of owning exotics like Lambos and F-cars. It all comes from the education they had and the attitude with which they face life. And a concerned father should know whether or not his young son is worthy of having the keys of one of those exotics in his pocket. It is my belief that SOME "kids" have enough maturity and care to deserve driving that sort of car.

I'm not defending Alex or anything, I'm just giving my opinion about young people owning very fast and potencially dangerous cars.

I had 7 Corvettes before I was 25 and the rumors were all over the place. My dad had nothing to do with them so of course, I must be a drug dealer. That was the rumor anyway. It is funny to see how people get insecure with themselves if there is a young person with a spendy car or house. If they can justify it with rich parents or by being a drug dealer then they can feel better about themselves and got about their day.

This thread reminds me of one of my favorite quotes. Some people here need to step back and think about it...

“Keep away from all the people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great will make you feel that you too, can become great!”

I don't think anyone is questioning how he got the cars, or really even cares.

The POINT is that there are a thousand people a day coming onto message boards and claiming that they own everything under the sun (look in our supercar forum for recent proof of this); this kid couldn't take the flak and stick it out around here.. do YOU believe everything you hear? It's not like he was banned.

I wasn't aware that you received a complimentary subscription to FerrariChat when you purchased an exotic, so maybe "deserves to be here" is a poor choice of words. I'm sure if he wanted re-wet his feet and post in this thread we'd call off the dogs without revisiting the past.

    CMY,

I didn't mean that he deserves to be here in the title. I meant that since the previous topic was in the General Forums I thought that this one should to and not be moved since it is about a Lamborghini. Sorry for the confusion and I do believe in what you have said here.
