btw,this is the 2nd LM-X concept.there was a more evolutional,white coloured
scale model about 8 years ago,when lambo was owned by Indonesian firm Megatech.(the tiny sketches below;"LM003 BORNEO")

i have to defend lamborghini.ppl nowadays give them a hard time when they announced they were to build a SUV.
lamborghini were the first "prestige" maker to come out with a SUV,way back in 1977 with the Cheetah concept;then the much-refined Lm002 in 1985.
(note;the lm002 was originally designed for the US army as an armoured
jeep successor;the US chose the other entrant,citing lamborghini's "difficult maintainence"(it had a 5.7l V12 generating 485bhp and did 135mph!!!!) and high
unit cost.the other "entrant" is today known as the HUMVEE!)
anyway,the lm002 was then sold as a luxury 4X4,way before the range rover got
all POSH in the late 80s.

some amusing performance facts:-
lm002-v12,5.7l,485bhp :0-62mph 6.8s,Vmax 135mph
humvee-v8 diesel,6.5l,192bhp :0-62mph 18.5sec,Vmax 83mph

the humvee was slightly more armoured,had better ground clearence,more robust mechanicals but the lambo was superior in climb/departure angles,agility,lighter weight as well as driveability and handling;creature comforts,etc.
but AM General charged the USarmy $80k per unit,Lambo were asking for
$115k....

Normally i don't like SUVs at all but that its one of the badass things i've seen.

 

Maybe if they dropped the leather and burled walnut trim they could have competed.

back to this concept....
it's apparently slated for a summer 2007 release,
my dealer hints that it may come with a choice of 3 engines:-
-5.0L V10,514bhp
-6.5L V12,655bhp
-6.1L V12 Turbo-Diesel(!),579bhp(!!!!!)

either way,performance targets are a 0-62mph below 5.0sec,
a top speed of 180mph as well as a nurburgring time of below 8min12sec!
WHAT THE HELL?!?!?!?!?

Love the design, just love it. Hope something in that line will go into production.

 

i like the design, and i don't think it's a bad idea either. It is not the first time Lamborghini has made a off roader and i think this one will be quite a success, SUV is still quite a large market and this car should give lamborghini more financial stability.

I was on the Lambo stand yesterday afternoon and I did not see those models. Are you sure that they were not downstairs in the design school area?

 

Interesting to say the least. This going to be one of those things where you love it or hate it. I think though, this is more of a design study and less of a car they are going to build. Looks to me like an art student made this. Not anything related to Lamborghini

 

i thought so too,at first.
but lambo has hinted at many new takes on both the espada and lm002.
funny thing is,this was included in the lambo press pack!(the weird,yellow paris-dakar lm)
