Does anybody remember the television commercial featuring a 350 GT or 400 Gt Spyder with Enzo Stuarti for Ragu Spaghetti sauce? I believe the car was light blue.

    Thanks for nostalgic indulgence.

I dont recall the commercial..but as far as a Spyder..

There was one in a collection in Palm Springs, CA that I saw a few years bac. If I recall correctly it went to Auction last year or so. However it was not real, it started it's life as a coupe and was converted by a coach builder.

The one that Al has is a one of one real Spyder. I first saw it at his shop in 2003. I recall him telling me he had it for many years. Then it was up on blocks, all glass out, interior out and in need of paint. He told me he woulod one day restore it and show it at Pebble Beach.

I offered to buy it from him in late 2005, however he said he would not sell it for less than one million dollars..of course I did not buy it. In late 2009 I heard from his ranch hand that he had brought up a old timer from Mexico that was living on the compound now and had started restoring the car for him.

I have not heard anything since.

There were two 350GTS cars made, they were at the 1965 Turin show, one in the Lamborghini booth, one in the Touring booth:

~350GTS~ 325 304 L351 18061 #1 of 2 350 GTS Spyders made by Touring. 1965 Turin Show Car on the Lamborghini stand. Al Burtoni, USA. (purchased 1981)

~350GTS~ 328 283 L351 #2 of 2 350 GTS Spyders made by Touring. 1965 Turin Show Car on the Touring stand. Went to Spain, then to Prince Altani of Saudi Arabia. Now in the USA. Ed Ulrich

Don't know if my notes are still correct, I think Al finally sold his but not sure. Here are photos of the cars at the show and of Al's that I took maybe 6 years ago:

Don't confuse these cars with the various 350 and 400GT 2+2s that have had the tops cut off. 325 and 328 are the real deal and probably worth a ton.

    Cheers,

    Fred
