Anyone have experience with importing a late model Lamborghini (Murci, Gallardo, 6.0) into Canada from the US? Is this even allowed? I checked the www.riv.ca website and it didn't mention anything about Lamborghini on the US admissibility list. -B
Why would you want to import, when Canada has two of the finer Lambo dealers around? Are you looking at a used example? That I could understand, since the used markets (especially for the Gallardo) seem to be very different between Canada and the US.
I agree........Asgar at Weissach Performance is a first class guy and he runs a great facility. Lambo Toronto is also top rate. Notwithstanding that however....why would you want to do it anyways ? There's more to it and more risk than meets the eye....in more ways than one.
Yes, I am looking for a used one. #1 choice would be 6.0 Diablo (Orange ---> Yellow --->Red). I've seen the one for sale at ZR Auto. That color just doesn't do it for me. http://www.zrauto.ca/modules/mod_carDetails.cfm?numCarDetailID=258 With the price of used Gallardo dropping like they are in the US and the CAN$ where it is, the Gallardo looks like great bang for the buck.
I would have to agree with you on the Gallardo subject. They look, perform and sound great. They are lighter then the Murci, which is also nice. I've heard one with a Tubi, and wow! A 6.0 would be nice too. What color you looking for?
As of two weeks ago, there are two 6.0's on the floor at Lambo Toronto. Orange and a funky violet/purple colour.
I remebered this in some late night Autotrader surfing: Orange: http://www.trader.ca/LamborghiniToronto/Default.asp?Trader=1&CAT=1&mknm=732&Region=-1&adid=4393186&dContact=472765&VLot=/LamborghiniToronto&ADS=4393186%7C&SRVlot=1&SRslts=1&category=1&makeid=732&modelcode=22187&len1=0&len2=0&mknm=732&mdnm=DIABLO&Region=-1&subcategory=&alpha= Ash grey: http://www.trader.ca/LamborghiniToronto/Default.asp?Trader=1&CAT=1&mknm=732&Region=-1&adid=4348008&dContact=472765&VLot=/LamborghiniToronto&ADS=4348008%7C&SRVlot=1&SRslts=1&category=1&makeid=732&modelcode=22187&len1=0&len2=0&mknm=732&mdnm=DIABLO&Region=-1&subcategory=&alpha=
I had only one experiance with those people at Lambo Toronto. Let me tell ya customer service is not at the top of their list.I would rather purchase a Lambo in Quebec and have it transported to TO. To bad ....they also sell ducks there, it would be nice to have a choice as to were to go for the ducati instead of just Brampton cycle
That's strange. I have been dealing with them for over 2 years, and they have been nothing but great with me. At all levels throughout the dealership (management, sales, service, reception), it has always been top notch. I can honestly say that Lambo Toronto has been the best dealership experience that I have had, and that includes BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar, Ferrari, etc, etc.
Same here, I've been treated great, and I'm not even an owner. That's too bad about your experience, TO Dino.
I was thinking of buying a Lambo a couple years ago so I went to the showroom. I thought if I was thinking of buying one I should be able to at least sit in one. I would never take it upon myself to just sit in one so i asked the salesperson. She said no you can't sit in it. So I said if a person is thinking of buying a $400 000.00 car they can't sit in it and she said that's right. The manager was even nicer he basically told me to leave the showroom. Mind you, I don't play the part of a rich man, I prefer jeans and a t-shirt over a suit. I don't even own a suit...I think, but my money is just as good as the next guy's. I could have wrote a cheque on the spot, with my money not the banks. I will never forget how the manager treated me in front of the other people in the showroom like a person begging for money. Even the $10 hr. receptionist treated me like crap.
Must have been an off day for them. I visited last summer with my sun. We drove up in a '95 Neon. We sat in both a new Gallardo, a black 355 spider then were allowed to tour around the owners personal collection. I loved the lp400, very rare to see one of these. Then they took us out to the garage where they had a Dino undergoing a complete restoration. I did not tell them I had a Ferrari already, or anything about us at all. I's go back in a heartbeat!
WOW, you gotta be kidding me! That soo sucks. I don't think it's that bad now. Apparently there is a bunch of cool people there such as our friend over here Ragin_Bull. When I was there to visit Michel the salesguy at the time he was very cool. Sorry to hear of your experience. Vasco
I think the guy who told me off was Michel. If I can remember correctly he had glasses and was about 45 to 50 yrs old. I am not exaggerating in any way when I say that both the receptionist and this guy Michel treated me like crap, In fact this guy Michel came at me like he was going to hit me in the showroom, because I was a little upset by the way I was being treated. In the end it was his loss not mine. I kept my 400 000.00 and he kept his car.
Dude, it happens all the time,in other industries, with other products dont take it personally and you know what....its for the better anyways.
The Orange 6.0 is the nicest Lambo out of them all IMO. You should definitely stick it out and wait for one of those to roll around. Were there many produced in orange? If not how about painting one....Im sure the dealership could get you the identical color...or is that a no no with exotics? Maybe too pricey?
A complete colour change will not only cost a fortune.....but It will reduce the value of that car a **** load.
Yeah, that makes sense. I guess you would want the original paint from the guys in Bologna instead of a respray. Nevertheless, I think Mr. Bubba Joe should wait for the orange 6.0 Image Unavailable, Please Login
BubbaJoe Lamborghini Toronto is showing an Orange 6.0 up for grabs. http://tinyurl.com/9sear No price is listed, but you can call them. I'm sure they can arrange to have it shipped to your locale. The orange 6.0 is also my favourite Diablo ! The gold one listed at ZR I believe is actually a 6.0SE. An even more rare breed of Diablo. The 6.0 is extremely rare in the U.S. Not that they aren't around, but that they are hardly ever up for grabs. Best, Joel
A repaint is definitely not something i would want to do. I prefer having the original color. That orange on in TO looks good. I plan to be in Toronto during the Canada day long weekend, have to stop by and take a closer look. As for my original question, I gave the people at RIV a call the other day and the person on the phone said "Lamborghini are special cases. You should call Lamborghini with the VIN number of the car you want to bring into Canada and check with them to see if it's compliant with Canadian regulations." -B
B, When your in town come see me for an espresso and you can check out the Orange 6.0, it's mint. Mike
I can't speak for TO, but I found the guys at Weissach to be great - and I was only looking at a lowly Esprit TT. From the outside it looked like their service department is also well run, but no direct experience.
