Here's a little more detail http://wot.motortrend.com/lamborghini-urus-suv-concept-leaks-out-before-beijing-unveil-195483.html
I have no idea what the front and rear looks like, but that side profile is the exact same as the X6. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Totally agree, but if it makes money and keeps the company afloat, then I suppose it can't be too bad a thing, and as they say, the proof of the pudding is in the eating, so it'll be interesting to see how it performs. The original LM002 was a real beast that pretty much blew everything in the off-road world away when it appeared. Somehow I think this won't be quite so outrageous. I wonder though, will they have produced 871 variations of this SUV by the time it comes to the end of its production run, just as they have with the Gallardo? I can just see it now, five years down the track, the Urus GT, the Urus Superleggera, the Urus Bicolore, Tricolore, Quadcolore, etc., the Urus ebayisty, and so on, and so on to infinity and beyond...
It does not look too bad, far better then the Cayenne, and truly hideous Bentley concept. It will help to ensure Lamborghini remains a viable business.
I saw it in person in NY. The side profile is not the exact same as the X6. It has much sharper and more aggressive lines. The front and rear are much better than an X6 as well.
+1 Why couldn't they have done the Estoque instead, that way they can compete with the AM Rapide, the QP, the Panamera Turbo S, and in some respect, the FF
I will agree that the Urus looks much better than what Bentley came up with. Their attempt was just laughable.
It's possible the renderings don't do it justice but as it stands now...what a disappointment. Rambo would not pleased. Where is the grill guard? Where do you mount the flamethrower? They had the chance to herald-in a new class of SUVs like the Miura did with sports cars. They had the chance, but they didn't take it. The front end is so generic and lazy. It's the creative equivalent of all those horrid Gallardo-faced SUV renders that popped up a few years ago when the rumors of an LM002 revival first surfaced (See here: http://www.carsbiz.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Lamborghini-SUV-3.jpg ). This thing is the obvious product of bean-counters, not passion. Range Rover already beat it to the punch on most of its styling cues. Hell, even the Ford Vertrek concept, from a year or so ago, looks remarkably similar (see here: http://images-2.drive.com.au/2011/01/11/2127986/ford-vertrek_600-600x400.jpg ). Apart from the interior (which I doubt will make it to production) this just isn't different enough from an Evoque/X6/Cayenne etc. It doesn't do what a Lamborghini always should...stand out. They should have thrown caution to the wind like they did with the Miura, something more KTM'ish, or like the Hummer HB concept, or along the lines of the new Batmobile, something more outrageous, more Italian, more befitting a brand that (used to) take chances. The apparent trajectory towards ever-greater brand homogenization is pretty unsettling. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if the Gallardo replacement ends up looking like a "baby Aventador" rather than its own unique car. VAG is infected with "homogenonorrhea" (AKA the "Porsche Effect") and they seem intent to spread it to every other property down the line, until Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini and Bugatti are all incessantly itching themselves in unison. It's a crying shame.
it's just okay IMO....i prefered this one of all the concepts i've seen Image Unavailable, Please Login
exactly! ...and what serious comsumer would see past such an obvious overlooked requirement? ..or that thier Lambo SUV do these things? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Some magazine author said it best Lambos are supposed to be outrageous, if they arent then whats the point A Lambo SUV should have the V12 out of the Aventador, 4x4, bulletproof, and some other gimmick like a friggin lazer beam or fembots included etc
Can't see this has been posted: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LT58ZYZxfNg[/ame] And: http://www.autoblog.com/2012/04/22/lamborghini-urus-super-suv-officially-unveiled-in-china/ I like it. Will give me a chance to get my wife into something other than the Cayenne Turbo as dog transport...
...similar to a X5 IMO....likely as useless for anything remotely 'off road' too Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
...the 3rd range to be in production... money maker ! Disappointing, I would better expect a respect of the tradition with a come back to V12 front engine sport coupe 2 doors like all these : 350, 400, Islero & Jarama !
