$1,439,000 a nice bid for this award-winning Miura, but not enough here

It owes the owner a lot more.

Seller was probably into it more than that, considering the Polo Storico restoration required modification back to S spec from SV, and also the seller's premium. Also, in my opinion, although they are more rare, right-hand drive models severely limit the market of potential buyers and white is not an optimal color. That being said, it is a beautifully-restored car with some great provenance so I think it's worth a lot more than the high bid. It's an awkward place and day of the week to sell a high dollar car. Although they gave it top billing, selling at this particular auction may not have been the best choice.

Although we were optimistic, nothing is ever sure at an auction.

    Thanks for clearing that up.

    Agree with all points.

The estimate was £1.2 to £1.4 million and the high bid was £100k short. If the bids were authentic I would have thought the seller would have met what seemed to be a lacklustre market...

Isn't there a Gallardo Spyder that was also owned by Rod Stewart up for sale? Did it find a buyer?

£100k is close at that level, but it'll be interesting to see if the vendor keeps it in his Lamborghini collection

Auction was empty very few bidders there.

  19. Does anybody know more about the history of this car? Taking into account the famous first owner and that it's one of the earliest Lamborghini's I'm surprised by the low bid. The condition doesn't look too good and it's a right hand driven car but I'm surprised that this one didn't get higher bids. In general the 400 GT 2+2 are still quite affordable cars in my opinion. Only a bit more than 200 were produced and it has more or less the same shape like the very first production car of Lamborghini the 350 GT.

The saleroom was quite full for the Miura and the DB4 GT - late lots in the 60s and 70s - but no bidders.

Yes understood, and thank you for that information which is easily verifiable from Steve directly.

Hopefully the new owner will provide it with a good home.

Meanwhile, as of this morning, the RM link for JLA12218 still shows as "Still For Sale", so they'll need to update that.
