I personally believe he was Not on steroids! If he was, so was a huge majority of the professional athletes and they still could not do what he has done. Steroids or not he is one of if not the greatest Baseball players to have ever played! So I stand behind him till the end being a Giants fan! just my two cents! Barry is the man!

Uh, you really can't be serious. Can you?

Let's look at the stats. In 2001 BB had 156 hits, 71 of those went out of the park. His slugging percentage in 2001 was .863. His career average is .606 if you remove the 2001 year. His slugging percentage remained in the upper .500s to mid .600s for his whole career until 2000 when it suddenly spiked to over .700 until the 2005 season.

He averaged .26 homers per game for his entire career, this number almost doubled in 2001 to .47 hr per game. I find this a little strange.

I will give you that he is a fantastic athelete. I mean what one of us could hit a ball comming at you at over 90 miles per hour, I know that I couldn't. But you have to consider the fact that the juice maybe gave him that extra edge and this needs to be noted in the books.

Maybe it was the BALL that was juiced around that time. It seems like there were quite a few players who were having suspiciously good years hitting long balls.

So his numbers spiked in 2001? So what, the Mariners won 116 games in that year.....look at them now. THEY WERE ALL JUICED. Right.

If Barry Bonds bought a Lambo, do you think it would be befitting for him to juice it up with some nitrous?

Which is why Barry refuses to cooperate with the investigation and why his "doctor" is going to jail for NOT testifying. Yeah - nothing to hide there. And the fact that his size has doubled (over one summer) since the days of normal stats is not suspicious at all. At least the other guys had the balls to admit it or have "no comment." Aside from from being a cheat and a user - he is a coward. What a joke. I admire his dedication to the game and his talent is obvious - but as far as his honor and integrity - c'mon... get serious - the guy is a fraud. I find it embarrassing that MLB let's his career continue whle they "make examples" of all the others. God forbid we show Barry for what he really is. You want to put someone on a pedistal... how 'bout Puhols? Anyone else find it coincidental that Barry gets off scott free while they question Albert's game? This is a total ruse. Barry ain't s***. Just another guy who couldn't meet his own expectations without cheating. Someone find a real role model for baseball instead of this juiced-up ego maniac who is allowed to add to his numbers and continue his career in spite of overwhelming evidence that he violated MLB drug policy. Open your eyes people - Giants fans or otherwise - facts are facts. Look at the evidence... Barry is a cheat.

My point exactly... did I even suggest that I thought Mark beyond reproach? During the initial investigation Mark used the "no comment" approach which is (imo) damn near an admission of guilt. Everyone drew their own conclusion and that was that. Barry has obstructed the investigation, refused to participate, lied repeatedly and outright denied any wrongdoing. So on one hand you have all the physical coincidences and the preformance levels that have spiked. On the other you have Barry saying, "I didn't do it." and his ongoing career. MLB and the writers all want to crucify Mark and yet Barry is the greatest of all time. Double standard? C'mon - who believes this stuff? Barry should be subjected to the same standards as the rest of MLB. And if you'll recall, when Mark got caught with the Andro in his locker - it wasn;t even a banned substance yet. That means that it was perfectly leagal for him to be using it. Now you have the steroid scandle where all of it is illegal and Bonds simply skirts the rules and is allowed to get away with it. I love Baseball as much as the next guy - but if you're gonna clean up the game... clean all of it up. If that includes Barry the Superstar then so-be-it. It will finally lend some credibility to this whole mess.

    BigBull,

I didn't mean to insinuate anything about Mark being beyond reproach. I was googling Barry Bonds hat size progression and this site came up. Sorry to touch off the rant, but this thread is ,at least in part, about Barry Bonds as it was his baseball that the owner of lambo LV bought for 220K.

Sorry Buzz - this topic always sets me off. Amazing how we can get caught up in something so trivial. I'm mad that it even affects me at all. Man! That guy makes my blood boil. Much like my Murc... but of course that is all together different. And I think a drive in the toy right now is just what MY doctor ordered. Have a good one.

Exactly which ball is this? The one that topped McGwire's? What number was that? The only thing I can remember was Mark either hitting number 70 or 77, can't remember. I don't watch baseball much.
