I tend to agree with R&T .. https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/a37308778/the-new-lamborghini-countach-is-a-cynical-cash-grab/
A couple of interesting things on an island south of you up for auction, there's a 998 cooper there as well.: https://tullochsauctions.com.au/catalog/302905/spring-classics--prestige--sports--survivor-car-and-petronalia/
I had the privilege to met Valentino and be presented with a trophy at MC by him, he is such a gentleman.
What a thing of beauty! https://robbreport.com/motors/aviation/lamborghini-original-countach-lp-500-recreation-1234638918/ Shane that it can’t be driven for anything more than a limited amount of kilometres without overheating.
I suspect that modern technology will have cured most of those problems - fans particularly have come a long way. John
I'm stunned it looks like the original steering wheel and electronic/diagnostic dash has been recreated. I wonder if the chassis is unitary too? My favourite part of the car is the radiased air intakes without the hood of the production car. The font used on the badge is awesome too IMO. One of my earliest automotive memories was seeing the original crashed at MIRA, I think it was in The Autocar magazine back then. And thinking "why" Won't be any problems with overheating, getting it registered might be an issue however, hopefully Lamborghini can re-birth the VIN and pull out the old test results I always found it interesting that the car was crashed tested as a unitary body, but the production car was a spaceframe.
Yep, apparently unitary. I thought that odd about original crash test too. Italians!! Silly signature here to annoy KIAI
So like John, you think modern radiator technology (materials and fluids) and fans will over come the lack of airflow to the side mounted radiators and the ensuring cooling issues encountered on the origial showcar design?
Yep, only in the early seventies could you get away homologating a car in which the prototype was a monoque but the production verison was a spaceframe - and MIRA was in the UK no less. Simplier times indeed.
Modern technology has fixed most of those problems- cooling fans in particular have come a long way together with water pump and radiator tech.
What I find staggering is just how many people out there with very deep pockets, by the sheer number of silly money cars being built and sold. Just Ferrari, they make more models now than FIAT.
Crazy isn't it? I miss the days when Ferrari only made one "base" V8 or V12 model every 5 years. Now it seems like they bring out a new model every year and they are only trying to keep up with everyone else which is a shame.
Being a Listed company the share holders need their dividends. To me sadly, Ferrari is becoming almost to mainstream
Yep, you hear those stories here on the forum that it was a rare sight to see a Ferrari 30 or 40 years ago and when you saw one it was truely something special to see on the road. Now............(because of highly inflated property prices) every man and his dog owns a Ferrari or some form of exotic car.
