Beautiful car. How are they to drive? How do they handle/brake? Enjoy it.

How long have you owned the car? is it an early Aurelia? The Aurelia Spider serial numbers are 1000 to 1180.. What is the chassis serial number of this vehicle? Will you run it in the Mille Miglia? looks like a first class restoration! Good job!

Thank you for all your kind comments!

    Serial number 1097.

We fitted later Flaminia front drums which are considerably more powerful, it has tight handling and great weight distribution (transaxle).

My dad's had it for 7 years or so now. We are thinking of trying to run it in the Mille Miglia at some point...

Owned a LONG time ago by Bill Murdy in Essex, I think. Was driven to the "Italia 81" celebration in Torino for the 100th anniversary of the birth of Vincenzo Lancia.

Wonderful car, thanks for posting it here.

Thank you all for the kind comments.

In terms of early history, we know little other than it was supplied in the colour scheme it wears today, grigio with pelle rossa on 7/7/1955 to an Italian customer and privately imported into the UK some time in the late 1950s, and allocated the number 3 AMJ (Bedfordshire?). It was next seen abandoned in a London street in the mid 60s, rusty, accident damaged and less bumpers and instruments and rescued by medical student Ralph Smallhorn who restored it to road worthy condition including making doors from fibre glass. Somebody told my Dad who used to work for Autocar that a B24S matching the description of this car was regularly parked near their offices in the early 60s, with the hood always down, even in the rain. It’s probably the same car, judging by the state the floors were in. It later passed to Bill Murdy who used it a lot including, like previously mentioned, a trip to the Lancia centenary in 1981... While cruising at top speed throughout the return journey, he blew up the engine - throwing 2 pistons! It was then sold to Fuad Mazjub, who was the accountant to the Shah of Iran. It then passed to his son Julian, who sold it in 2000 to Colin Buckmaster, and we purchased it from his estate in 2004, in MOTd road legal condition but in need of major rejuvenation

    Theo,
Congratulations. Rather nice job you've done.

I believe the color was called Grigio Forto de Marmi, Max Meyer #10.702. Might I suggest painting the fender caps to match?

The doors were originally steel, for what it's worth. I have a set of the Bimetal Borranis also, and find that I get a superior ride with the Bimetals and Pirellis, rather than the original rims and Michelins. There aren't many sets around, though Boranni is remanufacturing them. But the originals do look just right.

I appreciate the naked Lancia shots in particular. Yours was built to "Euro" spec, without door kicks, extra carpeting, glove box door, etc. There are also some minor discrepancies between cars.
    Best,
    Steve

I think that would be a big mistake. Alot of other small differences and it would also hurt the value. Keep it the original type wich is also rare.
