well it's on this website http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/tag/raymond-loewy/

A few years ago while driving in San Fernando valley I thought I saw a rare car outside a shop. I think it was this one but it could have been the Raymond Loewy
BMW507--I know in my mind I said "that's a Loewy" but now I can't remember which one. And I think the 507 is a light color like lit. green or lt. tan, not red.

I don't want to buy it, just find out if it's been out and about and at concours

Loewy by the desgined the Avanti, and modern bodywork for old steam locomotives
plus lots of Studebakers and the Lucky Strike cigarette package

An utterly horrible design that should never have progressed beyond the first sketch. The caption of a picture in R&T, January 1961, reads: "Grille is ideal for installation of fishing trophy plaque."

Loewy had a good sense of humor and had balls, have you seen the E type jag he did?

Getting back to the first post in this thread, yes, the Loraymo was "just sitting against a block wall off a busy corner in the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles", but that was in 1980, more than a few years ago. The car was purchased with $3500 in funds raised by the American Lancia Club (I believe I threw in a few bucks myself) and then donated to the Vincenzo Lancia museum in Italy. The story is told in the January 1993 issue of "Classic & Sportscar", and in the May 1994 issue of the American Lancia Club magazine.

As much as I admire Raymond Loewy and his designs I could never understand some of his automotive creations. I think Studebaker 53 is the only great looking car that came from his direction.

Don't buy the Lancia's style at all I'm afraid.

When you get to almost 70, things that happened 30-40 years ago seem like they just happened. It's where I put my car keys today I can't remember.
I think Loewy's daughter is putting good PR out on him (a book) but I hear him accused of taking all the credit for designs done by underlings (but isn't that what being an underling is all about? Otherwise you'd be an Uberling!
