I had a 250hp turbocharged one back in the late 70's! Forged pistons, nimonic valves, alcohol water injection. Silver with black trim... BWA Rims... Thanks for the photo! http://www.fototime.com/421B5678C440AA1/standard.jpg I admire what you've accomplished and I think I like your rendition better. Congratulations!
Very cool. There was a recent thread here on Lancia Scorpions. I had one at one time, absolutely loved it (until the cross member broke, that is). I'd like to get another one some day. Yours just makes me want one NOW! Alberto
very cool. Back in 2000 I was about to get one and then I bought an 87 Maserati Biturbo. Wanna trade There is a member on here (Jeff Davison) who has a Scorpion as well. It is the nicest one I have seen this side of the Atlantic.
I know Jeff. I've had 5 Scorpions. Coolest may have been the supercharged yellow 037Rally conversion. I've got 2 Biturbo parts cars on Ebay right now. Come get em. Would consider selling red Lancia above but have much more invested than market value for stock Scorpion. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks but surprisingly, my car doesn't need a donor. It is in good shape. I really like the yellow one!
I'd never be able to get that red car to pass smog in California, otherwise I would be very tempted. On the other hand, I could just track the hell out of it. PM with what you want for it, I just might be tempted. How hard do you think it would be to put a supercharger on it? Alberto
I have antique tags on the car now which exempts it from emissions and safety inspections. You don't have in CA after a car is 25 years old? Supercharging is straight forward as the Volumex supercharger came on several Fiat/Lancia twincam models from the factory. The yellow one I owned is supercharged.
Ah...yes! I always loved that Lancia. If (or when) I ever get fed up of my 308, this is one of the candidates for replacement.
Dave: The smog exemption is limited to I think pre 1972 and earlier cars. This past year the idiots passed a law which stoped the year to continue to roll up each Jan. 1. Thus, it would not be exempted and not able to be used on the street, thus the tracking idea. I had a generally stock 1977 that I sold about 3 years ago and I was looking forward to it getting exempt, with the new law it will never be. Alberto
They Atlanta guys know this car quite well. JD Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
well i don't like the Challenge stripe, wheels or wing... in fact the colour's a bit off too. otherwise, nice.
gotta see it in person. I hang with the Ferrari guys here in Atlanta and not a single one objected to it's graphic interperetation, just the oppisite in fact. Now it would be very gooush and distasteful to do that to a Ferrari that it was not intended originally for. The wing keeps the little 2L 4 cyl. car hands off the steering wheel stable at 120+ (pre wing it got a "touch" squirly and light) so it's there for function. The stripe is an homage to it's country of origin and NOT intended to be a 360CS (although it was the inspiration) Proportions are MUCH different and the white is actually 3M reflective. My Scorp was never intended to be a faux CS or a "wannabee" of any sort. The car is VERY well set up and sorted (engine, suspension and brakes), and WILL out-perform many Ferraris. It doesn't have the gearing to go beyound 130, but getting there it is extremely competitve and it WILL out-handle my 355. All in all I wanted to car to have it's own unique identity. So much for my justifications and intentions with the car and so much for peoples tastes. ......Eye of the beholder......
not a hater here, fan of the Monte (haven't seen one in the flesh yet ) but aesthetically none of that stuff is to my taste, refreshing to hear the spoiler is useful though. (mine's not ) i love X1/9's and have often thought about some CS'ish or Stratos'ish decoration to celebrate it's country of origin. i wouldn't personally use a 'proprietry' warpaint though, for the simple fact that yeah the first thing a guy like me would think is 'riiiight, that's no CS', but would use these themes for inspiration.
Hey Bernardo I shoulda brought my Montecarlo to the Ferrari parade this year for you to check out. I seem to recall you also liked my Pininfarina Spider volumex I had there that day. (only found out later you had to cut your weekend short). Lately have met up with the Ottawa FCA guys so they'll recognize the car now. The Montecarlo is the european version of the Scorpion. Canada's great import laws let me import this directly from Italy about 6 years ago. I'm still driving it almost every day. I'll be in Montreal this weekend but in the Jeep. pics @ http://www.forzavx.com/lancia/monte/lmgallery.shtml Haven't seen Dave's car in person but I have seen Jeff's. That car is a beauty and the engineering work Jeff has put into it is second to none I've seen. Chuck Image Unavailable, Please Login
These are brilliant little cars, and I've always been a fan of mid engine cars on the street, as they represent some serious commitment, and require amazing engineering to make street friendly. The ones in this thread really are inspiring. The revolution in mid engine cars for the street is fascinating, ostensible led at the high end by the Miura (Matra Bonnet if you count the Djet) in the late 60s, the early 70's through early 80's were the heyday of the mid engined street car. We often forget how revolutionary it was for the Porsche 914 and Fiat X1/9 ( and successor X1/20 nee' Monte Carlo) to offer this capability to that market. All are really amazing.
