Thanks for the compliments. I don't remember the offset anymore. I had the wheels made about 15 years ago. The tires are 205/16/45. I think they are a little bit too narrow for the rims. They would be better for 7.5 inch rim width. Otherwise I would go with 215/16/45 (if available) for 8 inch wide rims. Erich PS. I wish I had a Spyder! (in addition to the Coupe)
Slap a double bubble hardtop on and have best of both worlds, helmet room and no roof straps to worry about. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yeah, but you don't have the smooth roof line as with the hardtop version. Kind of like the Ferrari 308/328 GTS (targa) vs. the GTB (hardtop). The lines on the GTB are really MUCH nicer but..... having the option of open top "motoring" is also very nice.
If anyone is interested. I found 3 restorable Scorpions Local in Orange County, Ca for sale cheap to good home. JJ
Well, since we're bumping this thread, this 77 model is available in southern California. It's been converted to the Montecarlo look with Euro bumpers. It's not perfect, but no major issues, and lots of upgrades. PM me for more info. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Hey, it was a pleasure to meet you at Cars & Coffee on Saturday. I can vouch that yours is one of the cleanest Scorpions I've ever seen. The interior is better than factory. The paint is awesome. If time and resources were not an issue, I'd keep mine and aspire to bring it to the condition as yours. Best wishes with the sale.
I have owned my Scorpion for about 25 years. It is one of those slow projects. I think it is finally 'finished.' I finally got around to putting the new PininFarina badges on.
So, then I took it for a ride and it left a pool of brake fluid under the left rear. Anyone had any experience like this? Konis placed in 1984. New brake lines placed in 1998. Euro springs placed in 2002. Original wheels painted and new original spec. tires in 2003. I would have thought that this rubbing would have been evident in 2003, when I did the wheels and tires, but I guess I missed it. Problem now is how to prevent it. It rubbing on the inner edge of the rim. Rub marks clearly visible on the rim.
Hmmn. I'm going to drive mine tomorrow so will try to take a look at my setup. I have steel braided brake lines so may be different. Do you still have the factory wheel spacers installed? Can't see in your pic. I also had a gold 76 Scorpion. Pic here. http://memimage.cardomain.com/member_images/11/web/803000-803999/803556_224.jpg
Hmm...factory wheel spacers. Good suggestion, you made me go out and look. But, yes they are still in place. The Monehospital description for their rear brake hoses says: "Fitting a hose that is too long will cause the hose to rub on the wheel rim and wear through." So, I'm going to order a set of hoses from Montehospital. Since shipping from UK will be a significant portion of my cost, the next question 'what else can I order from them?' I see they have a new fuel filler rubber hose that I could use, but it is silicone. I thought silicone is not appropriate for fuel lines.

Looks good Julian. Someone did nice job in engine compartment tidying it up. Looks like it could use some Montecarlo suspension springs as it appears to sit really high. Does the AC work?
the 037 aftermarkets double bubbles are cool but i think i still prefer the cleaner factory hard top... a freind has one of these euro HT cars in socal, its one of the 3 official lanica entry in some mexico rally during its day way back when. cheers D
Is it one of the "Gente Motore" cars? Edit: Capsule summary - The Italian magazine Gente Motore brought three new Lancias to Mexico in 1975 to commemorate the 1953 Lancia victory in the Pan American Road Race. A series of articles was published in the magazine detailing current driving conditions in Mexico, the history of the Pan American Road Race, and driving impressions of the three cars (2 Montecarlos and an HPE). The cars had maps of Mexico and sponsoring logos painted on the sides. I had the opportunity to see the orange Montecarlo when Dick Buckingham owned it. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Not sure the 3 cars competed. Think they were just a tribute to the La Carrera Panamerica which Lancia ran back in the 1950's. The lightblue montecarlo w/ same graphics was in New Hampshire years ago. I wouldn't want a map of Mexico on my Italian car no matter.
his is red orange.... i think thats the car (but which of the 3?) i got picks of it at the abarth factory back in the 70's david they arent serious prep rally cars by any means. but they are still offical lancia PR cars. dont like the stickers take em off. id take a 2250lb 2.L square lamp, light bumper MC car over any usa spec scorp any day. i went through lots of hassel doing that conversion to mine. miss my mod scorp but i have to move on... to many cars to sample and not enough time to tinker with em all. i still have some scorp parts i need to get rid of.
OK, after parting out 2 cars myself, now find I need a couple parts for my keeper. First, the end-nut which holds the wiper arm on to the driver's side wiper linkage broke the theaded piece so need that part of the wiper linkage. Second, previous owned hacked shift rod I guess in atmept to make short throw shifter. Want to replace w/ stock length shift rod or if its easier, just the whole assembly that mounts to floor/tunnel. PM me if you have either. Thanx.
i dont have the wiper nut...threw the car alway i may have a shifter assembly but dont know when i will find the time to dig it up. its in stored away in boxes. i remember having an extra one cuz the plastic socket section on one of my scorps had a crack in it and was flexing. people often complain about how the scorp shifts but id kind of like it due to its mechanical feel and robotic shift action. it works fine when its adjusted correctly. it feels really italian like and chunky. people shorten trying to quicken the shift with moving the fulcrum point which is not idea... the effort gets high an make it the action notchy. . it was completely different than my MR2 at the time which shift beautifully but different with a smoother box and cables. i will pm you if i ever get around to it but dont hold your breath regards hf
My new brake lines came today. Here we are ready to go. It looked like rain so I had to park inside. I envy those of you with dedicated work spaces. I'm using the 'extra' space behind the two Ferraris.
So, the brake hose I had on the car WAS indeed too long. You can see the correct one from montehospital is shorter. That one that wore through is probably too long but I'm not going to say anything about the place that sold it to me because my car has aftermarket shocks and springs.
