there's more stuff on the lancia stratos in the Dino subforum. since they share multiple components, several of the guys who own or love them have started threads there. D
thank you sir like a lot of other people on this site, i started off just wanting to fix the old girl up, and then i went all OCD and want to have it PERFECT, down to all the right stickers...so sad...
Phil, Your car is seriously nice. My hat is off to you for doing the whole car right. The blue and gold rims just make it all work right. What are your plans for it? Driver? Garage and show queen? Weekender?
Thanks steve-when I got the car, the rims were painted silver, but I found the original gold underneath....I confess to slightly balking at the idea of gold rims, but it was correct for the car, and now I see it all together, I love it! Who knew I was a gold rim kind of guy.... I'd definitely like to drive it as much as possible-for me, there's not much point being lucky enough to own a few of the cars of your dreams if you don't get to feel how how drive and how they sound...! I've heard so many stories about how frisky the Stratos is to drive, I'm going to driving like an octogenarian for a while!
Well, to drive like an 80 year old is one thing, but I assume once you get the hang of it you'll be ripping up the pavement!! I had an 03' WRX and I loved driving it in the snow.........the Stratos, I can only imagine, would be a complete blast in fresh powder. (I would never attempt to drive my Mondial in the snow, but the Stratos.....I would.) Can't wait for more pics........and video. Steve
Hi Phil, Lovely Stratos buddy! Congrats. I really really love these cars. Nearly bought a nice one about 18 months ago, but just couldn't stretch it at the time(had just bought a pristine Porsche 959!), so sadly haven't been able to quench my Stratos appetite yet! However look forward to hearing about yours and how you get on with it!. Looks fab! Alex
well, ok, it was around the block a couple of times, at relative grandma speeds, but it was amazing! it really just amazed me-the torque, the sound...i know all of that is missing in the shakycam video my friend shot, but still...it's hard to express how exciting it was to drive...i am totally blown away! i've got to thank the magnificent bastards at autoelite for all their work, and putting up with my slightly OCD madness over the details... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgEup_8nl6I[/ame] it's still not quite finished, but the end is in sight!
Nice one Phil! Enjoy in good health mate. Looks a beauty. Can't wait for a more complete overview on the drive.
The Stratos Zero & the rally versions were some of Bertone finest work IMHO. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
You got quite a car here. The stratos is a special car to me but out of reach of my pocket book. Since you are in NYC, if you want to get with Lambo guys sometimes, let me know. We do have some shows and drives. Around fathers day there is a Ferrari meet that is now opened to other exotics. Frankly you should do this one. I have to say I'd love to see your car. I saw those in rallies in France in the late seventies, early 80s, when I was a teen. These cars impressed me the most. That is from a countach DD owner...
