Has anyone on FC bought one? They look good and seat 7 which makes them much more usuable for my wife than her H2 for our family of five?

friend of mine has one, ive used it a lot and its pretty good, his doesnt have the 7 seats, but it looks like it would be pretty cramped in the back w/ them...
dont know how the engine compares to the H2, but the engine gets u where u want... but still feels sluggish- even on kick down...

i think his was $53K w/o bluetooth, and the stupid fridge in the back, so it pretty much comes fully loaded as GPS is on all the models....
    any other questions just ask

edit: i just looked at the website, it looks like my friend got screwed price wise, but he did get it right when the LR3 came out, so either they lowered the prices or he got screwed big time ha, the same options on his is now at $50K or less....

Frank--I've been looking closely at the LR3 since it came out. Some random observations follow. I have spent time riding in the 3rd row seat--it is remarkably comfortable for me (5'11"), esp in comparison to every other 3rd row seat in a similar sized ute. The local dealer says that there have been some electronic teething problems. Every time I see one in the parking lot, I approach the owner and ask if they like it. So far I've talked with 6 people--all love the vehicle, all have had significant problems. 4/6 would buy it again, though, if the reliability issues were worked out.

You (or your wife) should drive it. You do feel all of its mass, and it feels pokey, even with 300 hp.

Looked at the LR3, BMW 4.8 and Cayanne turbo before finally settling on the Lexus GX470. After test driving all 3 I did find the others to be fast but none could compare to ride quality and luxury of the Lexus. I find the GX has more
than adequate power with it's 4.7 V8 and 275 HP, 330 lb torque. Am more worried now about getting tickets than I was in my Spyder as you just don't realize how fast you are going till you look down at the speedo and with the sport package and KDSS suspension the thing corners great. Big factor also was I know I will have some sort of sports car in my garage soon so might as well get a real truck and not some crossover. Have taken off-roading a few times already and the thing will do anything you ask of it and far better than my past 4runners and jeeps. About the only complaint I have heard about the GX is not much room in the 3rd row, which I removed the day I got anyway. They say they are only good for children but how often would anybody have 8 adults in the thing anyway? That row is for kids. Four wheel drive magazine has named the GX, 4 wheeler of the year two years in a row even scoring higher than the H2 on the offroad portion of the tests

My wife and I drove the LR3 yesterday and liked it. The third row seats are plenty big for me at 6 ft, so my children willl have no problem whatsoever. Landrover advertises that it is built to carry seven "95 percentile adults"...which is 6 ft 4 in...and from my observation it is big enough ! It drove pretty good for an SUV, and I kinda like the look. We plan to drive the Lexis next to compare.

Having had several Disco's, I would hold off at least a year to see if they are reliable. I loved the Disco, but they were in the shop more then on the road. My Cayenne S is just over 2 years old with 30K on the clock, and it has been one of the best vehicles I have owned. The quality is wonderful, and the drive is great both in dry and snow.

I too like the Cayenne, but it only seats five, and that's not enough for my wife's daily driver...she needs a least 6 and wants 7 or 8!

    Again

intended use OFF ROAD noting touches a Rover

The LR3 is spot on home run both on and off road and just to be safe I would allow others to sort out the issues (only a british car still has first year issues these days i guess)

Frank - just go with a Suburban/Denali/Escalade and be done with it! And, FWIW, I've had a Disco since '95 and have NEVER had a single problem! tres unusual tho........ and I have a DenaliXL too, also with NO problems (other than <15mpg).

If I went the American made SUV route, I would get a Ford Expedition. The GM SUVs are just butt ugly to me and do not have the same build quality as the new Ford products IMHO.

Frank seems to have similar tastes in cars as mine for now. (DB9 & LR3)

We're also looking at LR3, too! I have family of 6, so 3rd seats is "must".

Have you looked at Volvo XC90? It is very good car for the price.
Since I have ML360 by M-B right now, we are considering LR3, XC90, and new ML.

If we waited little longer, Audi is coming out with Pikes Peak, too.

I am looking for a bigger SUV for the wife as well and drove an Infiniti Q56 which was loaded with DVD, back up camera,Navigation etc. for right around 50k. I thought it was awesome. If the wife will give up the Gwagen this will be the replacement.
