I've got a 1991 348 with mouse belts and lap belts. Mouse belts work fine but lap belt on both driver and passenger side won't retract on their own. I removed the driver seat and cleaned the belt material, cleaned and lubed the return mechanism which seems to work fine without the odd routing of the belt, but once reinstalled they still need help retracting. I noticed that the routing of the belt is not a great design, lots of turns and twists. My question is does everybody have this problem and is it worth replacing the mechanism with a new one. Ricambi show that they have them.
    Any help appreciated.

My belts behave similarly. I've got to feed them back into the spool manually. I just had all the material replaced with new webbing and cleaned all the mechanisms and it didn't improve. I suspect they're all that way.

My 90TS and 94S both act that way. Sounds from you guys that it doesn't help to clean. Anyone have success in improving function?

What did you use to clean the belt material?
