It's above average in my view. Personally I think their sister restaurant and more budget friendly "Made LV" in Tivoli Village is just as good. It's like any place, not everything on the menu is gold, but when you find it, you end up always ordering the same thing.

I've been there maybe four or five times, since it's right around the corner from my house. Kind of a 'place to be seen' hip place.

It's solid, about $18-25 for entrees. Happy hour has a lot of doctors, lawyers and execs who burned out on Vintner's Grill I suppose. I've never been disappointed, but I've never been like, "Holy cow, this is amazing!" I note that the mix of appetizers and entrees is a bit eclectic, so the pairings can be odd. Like sushi appetizer with pasta entree.

At the same intersection, Via Brasil churrascaria is great. Echo and Rig at Tivoli is better than Honey Salt but more $. I also like the thin/NY pizza at Dom Demarco's in the next plaza East of Boca Park, at Hualapai.

It's no secret to the locals, but for out of town visitors looking for a good pizza I always go to Settebellos. Two locations, both off-Strip. Pizzas are made in accordance and certification of "Vera Pizza Napoletana" so it's the real deal. My favorite is the "diavola" pizza if you like a spicy salami.

I've been to Andiron. Cool place with good food. They often have a beef cap special that's great. It's one of my parents favorites for off-the-strip dining.

Pamplemousse, old school right there. A lot of heavyweights dined there back in the day.

Do they still have the old weird waiter there? The food is great. The neighborhood a bit shaky.

My god... the best Souffle ever. You have to order it for dessert.

The Frenchman who used to be the chef at Pamplemousse runs a nice operation here in Raleigh. Many years ago (maybe 2005 or 06?), he insisted my wife and I have dinner there and he would take care of everything. They sat us in this weird private alcove sort of thing...place was mostly deserted. I ordered a nice bottle of wine, they were out of it. Repeat 3 times...I think the wine list hadn't been updated since Joey Bishop ate there. We had the duck which was fine, average age of wait staff about 70, and my wife and I felt like we were dining in a funeral home. The Souffle was on the house, delicious, and after we paid the check I asked them to call a cab. They said they would arrange for their "house limo" to take us back to the Strip since we were friends. Guy who looked like Hunter S. Thompson pulls up 15 minutes later in a 1960's vintage Caddy Fleetwood Limo. It was missing a hubcap and I am certain more than a couple of guys got either whacked or transported in that car. Got us back in one piece though; never been back.

Quick report: Andiron good cooking and fine service in a nice space. Welcoming atmosphere. They had traditional turkey plus 3 other menu options on T-giving Day...I would go back if in the area. My brother insists on dining at Olives every time. Good service but prices have really gotten out of line for what I consider a mid range restaurant ($20 for a salad?) Joint is packed and deafeningly noisy. Had the white truffle tasting menu at Le Cirque....which paid their rent for the day I'm, certain. anybody on the board live in the MacDonald's Highlands/DragonRidge area? Thanks

Olives is OK but not great. Seating is like right next to the next person so it's noisy.

Lil Lacassagne (and his wife Lori). Their restaurant St. Jacques French Cuisine here in North Raleigh has been highly regarded for many years. Lil also has a bed and breakfast operation somewhere near Mayberry.

Anyone eaten at Piero's in the last years or so? I ate there in the 80's (LOL!!). It's been there forever. I always thought about going back. I pass it all the time across from the Convention center.

I'm pretty confident that's the little Italian place I use to eat at after hockey games/practice in the late 90's and early 2000's. It always seemed to be just us, and some less savory men. Great food though!

I went to Pieros with my wife a few months ago. The place hasn't changed much over the years. The Ossobucco is excellent here, I think it's the only thing I ever ordered. We actually had a twenty something waiter but there's still a lot of old timey staff there. If you want that old Vegas mafia feel this is the place. I believe they used It as a location in the movie "Casino".

The Cellar at the Four Queens has a similar vibe and serves great steaks. I highly recommend this place. Everything's great, a true old school Vegas experience.

I've only been to Hugo's Cellar once but really loved it. Definitely need to go back. My friends who live out there took me to Capo's Speakeasy a few years back which was also fun in an old school kind of way, but a bit on the cheesy side. The food was great and from the vague memories I have of the place, the Kick in the Head cocktail was named appropriately.
