Hi, guys, in the process of planning a trip next year to LA, SF and Vegas with my g/f and would like some recommendations for the hotel in Vegas, i have the below options for 3 nights in April.

    Four Seasons - Superior Room
Mandarin Oriental - City Scape Room
    Bellagio - Lake view Room
MGM Grand - Celeb Spa Suite
    Venetian - Bella Suite
Mandalay Bay - 750 Great Room
Caesars Palace - Deluxe Tower Room

Never been to Vegas before so need some insider info.

    Appreciate it

There all good. What is it you want to know? Location? Hotel atmosphere? Activities?

One hotel I would put on that list is the Wynn or Encore.

What are you planning on doing there?

Of those, I prefer Venetian the most. The location is good too. If you have never been to Vegas, and are considering walking, remember that everything is on a big scale. Walking a block will take 15-25 minutes.

As a destination, I like the Canal Shoppes below the Venetian. Bellagio...Nothing, Mandalay Bay...nothing. Wynns has the mandatory Ferrari Store, which is a 10 minute walk (from the corner of one block to the other is 10 minutes minimum). Caesers Forum Shops are good, and a short walk the other way.

    Always listen to BDelp however.

We arrive on a Sat so go to a top end restaurant, few bars and a club. Then Sunday and Monday we'd walk around and see all the sites, take in a show, helicopter over grand canyon, shoot some guns etc

Want to be located on or very near the strip but not sure if we want a mad busy hotel or somewhere calmer. Would like a pool which I think rules the 4 seasons out? The Wynn is considerable more expensive than those listed, about 30% more, if it's that much better then i'd don't mind the expense.

Check Encore rates as they will be slightly less than the Wynn and is attached. The Encore is very easy to get in and out of and being on that end of the strip there is not a ton of traffic.

There are plenty of fine dining locations. I was in Vegas last Sunday night and tried the Strip Steakhouse at PH. It was actually really good.

I'll be going back to Vegas (to propose) in late October and will be trying Joel Robuchon's restaurant at the MGM Mansion. I'll let you know if it's worth the expense.

As for hotels, I prefer the Bellagio. It's a great location and around plenty of shopping. Across the street you have the 1 mile shops at PH.

The Cosompolitan has amazing drinks, but I've never stayed.

That's the one i've heard about so i'd be really grateful if you let me know if it's worth it !

Ok, so i booked the Wynn for three nights.

We had 6 nights in for driving from LA to San Fran but i'm now thinking we should half that and do 3 nights in San Diego !!!!!!

This is where I like to stay:

Attached to the MGM Grand but separate gated entrance, no casino, no smoking, all suites including a kitchen and very quiet.

My suggestion with gun shooting is make a reservation for the VIP treatment at the Gunstore. You can avoid a 2 hour line and get a private shooting range. The cost is only about $100 more per person but it's worth it. Go online and you can book by email in advance.

The Hotel and 4 seasons are more reserved if you want a quieter time. Bellagio and Wynn are probably the two best hotels in town. The Venetian has the biggest rooms but my problem with it is that the rooms a a long walk from the entrance.

All you mentioned are on the strip. 4 Seasons and The Hotel are at the very southern part and a walk to the heart of the strip is a long one. Bellagio and Caesers are more in the center.

I think if you took a poll, the most favorite hotels on the high end are Bellagio and Wynn. But, the others you listed are also first rate.

I'm not sure this helps because there are so many variables.

I stayed in the Lakeview Room at Bellagio last year - brilliant. Great views of the Bellagio fountains and The Strip.

I am booked in to stay a few nights at Planet Hollywood in November this year. Never stayed there before but it's centrally located on The Strip and has the Magic Mile Shops, as previously mentioned here.

I think you'll like PH. I've stayed at PH at least 5 times in the past 3-4 years. Bellagio has a "classy" feel to it. PH seems to have a more exciting atmosphere. You definitely have to walk through the pleasure pit after 7ish at night. The eye candy is nice to look at ;)

tip: Lawry's for prime rib, off the strip by Hard Rock hotel. They also have one in Beverly Hills.

Best Filet Mignon I've had is Prime Steakhouse at Bellagio.

Also I had excellent sushi/sashimi at Barmasa in Aria.

I have booked a fountain view room. Presumably I will be able to see the Bellagio fountains across the road (and The Strip).

Has anyone stayed in a fountain view room at Planet Hollywood.

Vegas is fun, but the constant flashing lights, beeping, buzzing, ringing and jangling of slot machines in every hotel lobby is sometime too much. That's why I prefer the Four Seasons. It has its own Lobby, it's rooms are high above the Strip and the absence of slot machines and a smoky casino is just delightful.
If you want the gambling action it's literally minutes away, but the Four Seasons is an oasis of tranquility when you've had enough noise and drunks bumping into you every two seconds

The 4 Seasons probably has the nicest Spa. It's a good hotel for people who want a quieter Vegas experience.

The cosmopolitan is excellent....great pool and ambience. Plus you're close to the Aria for poker, which is what I do :)

I had a Suishi/Sashima dinner at Blue Ribbon in the Cosmo last Sunday. Very good. Expensive. What's weird is that the menu also has surf and turf so I was a bit worried. I think they do this because some people just won't eat suishi so if they a group, everyone can get something to eat.
