if you stay at the luxor in the pyramid, your windows are at an angle, so to look out the window, lets just say its annoying. and then everything is real loud as the casino is in the middle. plus I heard that the floor in the middle is slowing inching up because the outside is so heavy and sinking. and I have been real unlucky in vegas and i wouldnt want to have a building fall on me to ruin more of my weekends. john
I see so its basically really small and not very upscale. I will stick to the bellagio or Ceasars palace or venician.
I'm in Las Vegas now, checking into the MGM tomorrow. First time at that hotel. I'm not looking forward to all that walking. I've stayed at the Alladin, Ceasars, Mandalay Bay,the Hard Rock and loved them all for different reasons. The Imperial Palace is a dump. Never go, never spend any money there. The Flamingo and Ballys are both older and not as 'up to date' as the others, but they're nice enough. The Luxor is fun once if you get a pyramid room, just to say you've had a pyramid room. Treasure Island is ok, but forgettable. If you're willing to risk downtown, the Golden Nugget is the only place to stay.
No one said Aladdin? Stayed on a wkday and gave free upgrade to a view suite...nice enough for me, I'm not picky... Tropicana gives good deals. In the Island Tower cool mirrors surrounding the bed and on ceiling
imperial palace-stayed there on new years. not overly impressive, but didnt sleep there (stayed up all night, of course), plus its right on the strip golden nugget-stayed there mid july. nice, but a drive to the strip, so it depends on what you plan to do.
NY NY is very cool and reasonable but try to get a room close to the elevator. There are tons of different places to eat. Everything from upscale to Nathans Coney Island. You can find rooms in NY NY for less than $100 during the week. I stayed at the Aladdin too. Nice but not as much fun as NY NY IMO, also the Aladdin costs more. Some would argue that the Allladin is in a better location-close to Bellagio and Paris. I really liked the Venetian but never stayed there. The Bellagio was the nicest hotel I visited. But if you are going to be gambling and not in your room that much then maybe it wouldn't be worth it.
Stayed in Golden Nugget, Plaza, Flamingo Hilton, NY NY, Luxor, Hard Rock, Treasure Island, Mirage, MGM, Ceasar's, Excalibur, Bellagio, Monte Carlo, & Paris in the past 5 years. For a regular rooms, Mirage & Bellagio gave me a good impression. Rest of them are about the same. I have stayed in a suite of Mirage, Ceasars, & Luxor, and it was fun & relaxing, but you expect that for a suite, I guess.
