Avengers, MIB3 and Battleship were all greatly entertaining. I am usually very picky but these movies didnt bother with a serious story line like in Batman and were just straight action movies.
TrueGrit, the CoenBros/Bridges recent one..quite fun,so may go back and see the JohnWayne '69 version(it was that long ago?)..and MDamon pretty good too..he may be underrated, but he's still an ah Cheers, RE
+1 exact same feeling. The trailer pretty much showed everything important in the film except the very end, which wasn't too surprising. Wasn't disappointed, though, and worth the $5 I paid.
+1 It was cool, the sound effects were insane... Something was left out, don't know what but I also don't know if I care! Overall, 7/10. Can't wait for the sequel of the prequel
Saw several on the plane today: Love. A very strange sci-fi movie about a guy stranded in a space station. Hard to describe but very bizarre. This is war: Kinda a romantic comedy with Reese Witherspoon (I can never figure out how a girl so ugly can be made to look so hot) and that guy who played Capt. Kurk. Just OK. I think girls would like it. Good date movie as it has some action for guys and some romance and "girl humor" for girls. The Gray: Very well done movie of a group trying to survive in Alaska. Extremely well acted and not your typical disaster movie. I would recommend it. Not what I was expecting and that's a good thing. I like to give people credit for going beyond the normal script cliche's.
+1 Caught it this weekend. Ralph Fiennes should have a gotten an Oscar nomination for that performance. Not bad for a first time director.
Prometheus was very disappointing. It lost the whole raw appeal of Alien/Aliens. Too polished. And the story was kinda stupid half way through (cant say because of spoiler).
Contagion. Based on a worldwide pandemic scenario, cerebral and plodding, behind the scenes govt. and corporate coverups and manipulation interesting.
Where The Wild Things Are. Great movie for both kids and adults. Based on children's amazing imagination. A little bit long, maybe (1h 40 minutes). 8/10
Prometheus 6/10. Parts were great. Parts were meh. Nice to learn origin of aliens. Battleship 6/10. Popcorn flick.
I saw Men In Black III this past weekend. It was good. I loved the 1st one, didn't care for the second one much, but the third was a lot better. Brolin did a nice job playing the young "K".......he had Tommy Lee Jones' mannerisms and way of talking down pretty good.
Snow White & The Huntsman. Terrible acting from the emotionless Kristen Stewart, but great stuff from Thor, erm i mean Chris Hemsworth. Overall just an average movie. Pretty good effects. But i think Snow White should have been played by Sophia Bush, and Ravenna by Angelina Jolie.
I watched 'The Ladykillers' again yesterday and just love that movie. I must crank the volume up so I can hear and try to understand Tom Hanks character, BJU for the win!! lol
Saw and liked Prometheus, saw and was disappointed in Chernobyl Diaries (they could have done so much more with the whole Chernobyl theme, I think they really half assed it), and got Enemy of State for $8 on blu ray and rewatched it. Great film. Getting your tonsils ripped out gives you a lot of time to lay around and watch some great films.
Saw Prometheus and wasn't impressed whatsoever...the build up was great and then it's like 'really? you're going in this direction?!' Also finally saw The Avengers last night and beside the end fight scene I wasn't that impressed either, I know everyone say's its awesome but I just thought it's could've been alot better....
Got about 20 minutes into a DVD of Sherlock Holmes "game of shadows" and turned it off. It's impossible to understand what is going on and what is being said. The bad British accents are annoying and they mumble. The conversations are so disjointed you can't figure out what they are talking about. I'm like... "what?". Besides, taking Sherlock Holmes and turning him into Bruce Lee is a total turn off for me. Sherlock was not a fighter. He was the smartest guy in the room. He won by figuring out what others could not, not by punching others in the face. Sherlock Holmes is not "Batman".
I'm also getting the sense that I should skip Prometheus from the mixed reviews. I do indeed want to see it, and the local theatre has it in 3D, which might be interesting, as I haven't had the experience, yet. CW
American Pie: Reunion. 8/10 for that kind of movie... Braindead, silly, gross and nude entertainment, as expected... Had its hilarious moments, though. Stifler was on fire
I tried watching the first installment and not even 5min's in I changed the channel. Not even Downey Jr. could pull that storyline out of the crapper. Oh what about the new movie coming out where President Lincoln is a vampire slayer, WTF!! Has anyone seen the latest installment of Underworld? I like the first two and I am hoping #3 is just as good (for me and my taste).
