Just finished "The Help" - not bad - not an IMDB 8.0 IMO... a bit trite with cardboard cutouts for a lot of the actors and sets - but overall a well-told story of a historic time in our history. Just a bit too "chick flicky" for me - the [very good] story could have been told in a more realistic and accurate way. 6.5 IMDB stars from me Jedi
I did think about it a little, but didn't go into it. If we go down that route, we can pretty much take points of every film in existence for inaccuracies.
in the theater: Prometheus - liked it a lot. better than i expected, not quite as great as i hoped. at home: Attack the Block - amazing movie! if you haven't seen it and you are a fan of Edgar Wright (Hot Fuzz, Shawn of the Dead), a must see!!
Just watched "The Grudge" (Bill Pullman version not the original Ju-on version) OMG!!! What a bore fest!!!!!!!! I've heard for years that folks have said "if you like The Ring you'll LOVE The Grudge" ... right. Not even a horse race. More like horse vs. mouse race. The synopsis: 1. Funny sound happens (alternating or combined with "don't open that door") 2. Attempt at showing us a scary person/face/object happens (we're supposed to scream) 3. Screen goes black. Repeat for like 45 hours or something.... over and over and over and over and over. Add a bunch of stupid dialog, Japanese mysticism, and grainy "art" shots along the way.... Dumbest "horror" flick I think I've ever seen. Yeah - I know I'm almost a decade late. I now know there was a REASON for my delay in seeing this piece of crap. Jedi
Prometheus - worth the wait. Captivating enough the gaps in script didn't matter. Obviously there will be a follow up that will take us in another direction. Thumbs up!
I had a brainfart (yes another one lol) as I only caught the last 30min's of "A History of Violence" this morning. I have not seen it in a few years but I really like it, anyone seen it?
a VERY underrate movie, one of my favorites. The second best Vigo Mortenson movie. The best one is Eastern Promises.
i just watched eastern promises the other day. that movie was pretty awesome! the history of violence was pretty good too
saw Ted tonight with some coworkers. if you like family guy you should see this movie. if you don't, you will not like it. it was hilarious, we laughed from almost beginning to end.
The Getaway (1994) - I haven't seen this in a while, funny how Alec Baldwin was such a badass in this compared to his current 30 Rock role. I'm starting to think action films peaked in the 1990's, a lot more violent & better written than current films from the past decade.
