Just saw the Amazing Spider man. The movie is okay, I think it would have been good if there were no other Spider man movies and this was the first one.
Ted- I enjoyed it. It's classic family guy content so if you like Family Guy, you'll really like this. I watched the count of monte cristo on tv recently. I really like te fight scenes. The plot took a while to get going but once it did, it wasnt bad. So whos going to see the Katy Perry movie first?
Just saw the newest Spiderman flick tonight. Took a while to develop the story but when it got to the action it was pretty decent. Just felt like the action and graphics could have been better. It was good just could have been better. The acting was also pretty good. The kid playing Spiderman was surrounded with veteran actors but he held his own. I think he will get better as the sequels continue. The story deviated from the original more than the last movies but I'm not complaining about that. I was tired of the Mary Jane character anyway. She didn't bring much to the story. This new girlfriend is a scientist in training and helped beat the bad guy. Good enough to watch again.
The Bad News Bears in Breaking Training - I remember seeing this film when I was a kid & at that time I enjoyed it for two reasons. The love of baseball & it was filmed in my home town of Houston, TX. After seeing it again the film was absolutely horrible, Jimmy Baio (Scott Baio's cousin) really annoyed the living Hell out of me. The only thing that made things right for me is seeing old locations around Houston & Chris Barnes (Tanner Boyle) turrets syndrome rants.

Rented Red Tails the other night. Thats was a huge disappointment. The actual history is great and how they came up with that crap screen-play is beyond me. It fits with what Lucas has been making recently and in the end George Lucas needs to be stopped.
funny that a shoe-string budget made-for-tv movie telling the same story on HBO was a hundred times better... maybe it was because the people behind the movie weren't complete idiots
The Rock-afire Explosion - Possibly the creepiest documentary I've ever seen. I didn't even like those things as a kid.
I saw "The Amazing Spider-Man" the other night. I'd give it a 7/10. It's worth seeing if you haven't seen it, but it's not amazing. **BEGIN SPOILERS** The film's tone was pretty inconsistent even within the same scene, such as with the hard-nosed law-and-order cop father making frequent Tokyo (Godzilla) references when Parker insisted that there was a lizard running around New York, Parker suddenly attempting to embarass his schoolyard nemesis with his newfound powers, and some of the commentary during fights. The film seemed like it didn't know whether it wanted to be light and funny or darker and edgier...and it tried to be both at nearly the same time. Additionally, the film begins with Parker's parents leaving him with the aunt and uncle, presumably getting killed in the plane crash soon afterwards. Some of the dialogue in the film implies that they were killed by Oscorp employees. Peter never explores this and never seems to connect the suspicious break in, the strangely hidden documents, and the company to one another. In fact, he actually forks over the data that the parents worked so hard to keep secret to the first researcher who was impressed at Parker's ability to read an online web site. I assume that they were saving the resolution for a sequel, but it plays a significant part of the opening of the film, and it's left dangling conspicuously. Parker's mannerisms also got on my nerves. Excessive showboating with snide and implausible commentary during fight scenes really took me out of the fight and made me care less about this character. Your mileage may vary. I am led to believe that he was similar to that in the comics, but when the film is supposedly going for a more realistic darker and edgier theme, comic-book antics come across as jarring and implausible. Finally, it was odd in that bridge scene where several cars were dangling over the edge that he saved the kid...and then just left. Additional cars were still hanging off that bridge, and at least one of them still had a person inside! That person was no saint, but Parker had no basis for knowing that. There could have been a little kid inside it as well. Did he expect everyone else to just free themselves and not plummet to their deaths? If so, why go after that one kid in the first place? Well, he was the construction forman's kid, so he later in the film Spiderman can get injured and a group of construction workers can quickly identify that he's injured and needs to get to Oscorp quickly to rescue the girl and stop the villain, identify his optimal path, and place their cranes strategically to ensure that he can shoot his specially developed web onto them and swing around to get to the building at exactly the right time. That's just a little too convenient, particularly when that kid was the ONLY person saved on the bridge. Another "save the most plot-relevant person and forget the actual crisis" mechanic was used in Spider-Man III, where he saves the girl from the out-of-control crane, has a brief scene with her, and leaves...while the crane continues out of control, possibly killing people with its Unstoppable I-Beam of Mass Destruction. **END SPOILERS** Even so, I didn't care for the first film in the last trilogy that they released, but liked the second one, so maybe this'll be the same. A good first effort, then. Just my $0.02.
Catch .44 Rotten Tomatoes give it a 2.8 (!!) so I was very sceptical about seeing it, but there wasn't much else on. I did like it, and would recommend others seeing it. IMO Bruce Willis' role should have gone to Peter Stormare, he would have been perfect for it. 7/10.
watched Chronicle last night on blu ray. enjoyed it quite a bit. i'd give it a 7 or 8 out of 10. some really interesting ideas and creativity with the "found footage" motif. the last 1/4th of the movie really pulls out all the stops. a couple plot threads not concluded would have been nice (whatever happened to the blonde chick?) and although the main character's motivations were pretty well explored, i didn't feel like he completely sold me on the character turn towards the end. still, highly recommended. finally... someone made a live action Akira lol
This Means War - Wasn't expecting much from this but it turned out to be better than I thought. The wife and I got some good laughs out of it.
