Dunkirk
just watched 1969 movie 'battle of britain'. phenomenal movie that picks up right after Dunkirk. the air scenes are incredible and obviously no cgi back then. current Dunkirk movie team should watch it to learn how to make a real war movie. reminds me a little of steve mcqueens lemans which was from same time. epic masterpiece. next up is 'battle of bulge'.
that was a good movie...great cast and yes the aerial combat scenes are amazing when you factor in when the movie was filmed...
Fallen (1998 with Denzel Washington). Two hour film which despite Rotten Tomatoes review I found rather good
Yes, I saw Charlie wilson movie few weeks ago and knew nothing of story before hand. I enjoyed it. Could you imagine a movie getting made in this political climate where protagonist is such a womanizing chauvinist? Made me laugh
Small Town Crime Hadn't heard of it until watching it this evening. Great cast and very enjoyable movie.
15:17 to Paris. Boring. Don't waste your time. 10 minutes on the train, lots of time watching non actors eating.
Almost went to see it. thanks for the heads up Casablanca on pay per view about a week ago. Hasn't changed. Still wonderful.
Just saw Black Panther tonight and was expecting to see the best Marvel film by a longshot based on the hype and ticket sales. It was decent, but not something I would go “holy **** you need to see this film now!” There was too much filler dialogue, Martin Freeman’s character should have been cut, and Michael B. Jordan’s backstory was completely disregarded. I liked the music and the action was fine. It was a pretty par for the course Marvel movie.
Annihilation. Meh... Very surprised it has an 87% rating on RottenTomatoes. Semi-engaging for a while, but utterly goes off the rails in the final segment. CW
Watched "Mute" - a Netflix original. Liked it, and it seemed pretty well put together. Had a little bit of a "Blade Runner" feel as far as the "near future" aspect goes.
I watched the movie "Wings" on TCM which was the first movie to win something like best picture award. It's a silent movie and quite long -- 3 hours. Its the story of 2 guys going into WW1 as fighter pilots. Its actually a pretty good movie even though its so old. There's plenty of irony in the story which makes you wonder how it's going to turn out. What's amazing is the aerial photography, the vintage aircraft flying, and the crash stunts. It must have been ridiculously dangerous to make.
Mortdecai I found it extremely hilarious Best good chuckle movie I’ve seen in a long time. Will probably watch it again to catch the jokes I missed while laughing! Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
I've see Red Sparrow the other day. So very mediocre. It's watchable, but probably sometime later when it comes to dvd or streaming services.
On a cross county flight, I was pleasantly surprised to see a classic! It Happened One Night, 1934. Claudette Colbert - she's gorgeous! Clark Cable - single handedly plunges the American undershirt industry into chaos! (By not wearing one) Great old school rom-com. Boy meets girl. Boy loses girl. Love triumphs in the end, as it should. Directed by fellow Sicilian-American, Frank Capra, of Its A Wonderful Life fame...T
Coco It was a lot better than I expected. I haven't seen a Pixar movie in years even though a lot of people seem to like them.
